Congrats, looks great in white! Who would have thought eh?
I've recently got a 4.2 xkr but really fancy a 5.0!

There was a black with an ivory interior closer but I really like it in white.

Happy Bunny right now...

It's early days and, of course, the weather has been poor so mainly town / urban routes so far at between 16-18 mpg so I've switched away from that display and prefer to drive without knowing.

The sound and the power of the 5 litre V8 is addictive.

The steering is not as souless as the old XK8 and the handling is pretty good, although I haven't pushed it at all.

As others have said, the model is showing its age a little now but, otherwise, I'm really pleased.

Just a bit of an update. I have today been able to test a 5.0 XKR at a local dealership (Harwoods). Staff were excellent and very helpful and I was bowled over by the car, from the very second the engine starts and that noise is produced! The drive was amazing and the power is phenomenal.

I can't see anything else is going to win over this, and I hope to be in the position to make a purchase within the month smile

I have an XK Convertible and an XKR Coupe.

The XK is a smoother softer ride but still plenty fast enough. The XKR is a more raw sports car.

Which do I prefer? Both! :-)

Long relaxing journey = XK

Shorter blast = XKR

Both great cars.

The XK engine doesn't get wet when it rains! (No bonnet vents!) As someone who likes a clean engine I'm always cleaning the rain dribbles off the XKR engine cover. If somebody wants to invent a "winter bonnet vent cover" in rubber I'll buy two! :-)

I clean engine is a sign you're not trying hard enough drink

Of course original XK engines weren't supposed to be clean, they were supposed to leak oil all over the bottom of the cars to stop them rusting.

Hi Paul
I dont know whether you have made a decision yet, but can add my 2p's worth. I now have a 2010 XKR convertible, which I traded in a 2010 XK portfolio for. I had the XK for about 3 years and loved it, but was seduced by the noise and the extra oomph of the XKR, which is such fun. Had a few memorable blasts last year on French back roads, in company with a Ferrari 458 and a Maclaren MP 650, and they were amazed at how well the Jag held them off, (fortunately managed to avoid the gendarmes hidden in the hedgerows).
The XKR feels that lttle bit harder edged in general driving, and does need some care in wet and slippery conditions, but if you have a few spins in sport with the launch control switched on, then the smile will be worth everything. I can generally get 20-22 mpg with the right foot in "normal", though it does drop a fair bit when fully engaged!
Just about to add the top pulley upgrade and SS custom exhaust to increase the thrill factor further.
I drive the car most days, and for every day driving both models are exemplary. The XK cost me nothing other than tyres over 3 years, servicing at main dealers was 3-400 GBP, and the XKR arrived with 2 years Jag warranty.
Whichever you choose, you will have great fun which is all we ask?
