95 Sovereign 3.2 58k from new. Rear suspension clonks. Been suggested that all rear bushes be replaced with 'Polybushes' But have been told it might wreck the waft factor.

Specialist says he will 'Poly' if that's what I want, but dosent know if they will wreck it. He prefers to go original.

Anyone got any ideas if they will wreck it, anyone done them & is there a difference?

I believe there are 12 bushes to replace & it was also suggested to replace rear shocks at same time.

Advice please.

TiA.

I'd have thought you'd want to stay on the originals.
Even on my Sport I love the waft factor and can't think why I'd want to put anything harder near the suspension.
I preferred the Sport to the XJR when I bought mine 19 years ago because of the ride.
It's just so right, don't mess with it.

I can't help with the knock noise I'm afraid. I had the bushes on mine replaced years ago, so long ago it was done at the main dealer. I can't remember what the problem was that led to them saying they needed to be replaced. All I remember was that for some reason they did half the job and then gave me the car back for a few days before wanting back to do the other half and that it handled like a pig when they gave it back to me in the middle, understeering badly.

Thanks for input.

Going to,stay original did think 'Poly' could ruin it & I don't want that.

Also suspect my 'Clonk' is same as the XK as it seems to be at top of turret. Will know after 12/4 when it goes in.

Certain bushes were replaced with sintered blocks on the X308 and you could replace those with poly bushes.

Stick to OE bushes for the A frame and rear of wishbone to under-tank links.

hi jim, i had a dull clunking from the back of my x300 which would sound like something loose in the boot; it wasnt.I replaced top and bottom shock mounts all round and ARB bushes, now its as quiet as a church mouse, i used all standard bushes from "british parts" also new tyres all round, drives really nicely now.
