If only Jaguar would launch the 3.0-litre V6 diesel version that they have been testing for a long time already, I would order one in a heartbeat.

[Need I say that my current XF has that self-same engine. Show me a single owner who doesn't rave about his ....]

Yes, two seater only is a bit restrictive. My x type estate lies down at the airport most of the week and is a dog carrier when needed at the weekends. 370z the rest of the time. driving
I had a white 370Z (GT?) was a great car! Excellent value too! ( I say this cos my Porsche has many extras which should have been standard, and were not cheap! )

Its because the V6 isn't producing what it should do. Major caffuffle at Jag IMHO.
That fact?ni have been reading about this on the other thread, but is there an official embargo, my dealer says yes, I tweeted Jaguar about getting a test drive and they confirmed my dealer will contact me when they have an XE-S to drive. They do, it's sat around the back and not allowed to be registered.....

Had the 240bhp petrol one as a courtesy car today while the XF was in for a service. Lovely car! Proper rorty sound, R-sport trim seemed decent enough. Even spoke to the salesman on what deals we could work, so potentially bye bye to the Xf!

No doubt that Jaguar need to produce a higher output diesel XE.

I'm not sure about any embargos on XE test drives.

I had an S for most of last Saturday. It is indeed a very nice car, lots of good things going for it vs. the competition. I can assure anyone who might be wondering there certainly doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the performance, and I've got plenty to compare it to!

The V6 S is swift, no doubt. Chassis is brilliant, steering has sufficient 'feel' in dynamic mode and few will want for more power or better dynamics outside of a truly focussed R version that I'm sure will be forthcoming.

The interior does struggle against the Germans for material quality but is distinct in design and execution. Overall I can see why in the main the press view it as slightly ahead of the 3 series overall.

Hi ,anyone know the very best suspension to go for? My new 3 series BMW F30 330d Luxury had Standard SE suspension and was like a floating blancmange ,crashy as well on the runflats, after 3 weeks i paid £1500 for the full AC Schnitzer suspension which has transformed it.If I had been more informed I would have got the M Sport Adaptive ....so what say you?

I believe the issue is with the XE-S, any cars at dealers aren't being allowed to be registered, there are those that have already made it through and a few fortunate owners with early cars.

Anyway, it's like pulling teeth to try a petrol XE. Seen two on the road now (and a new XF) and they do look very good indeed. I take back my slating of my early impressions. I need a bit of time for these things to settle in my consciousness......anyway I'll enjoy the ride...

Strange, it seems the XE part of the Forum is pretty much dead.

Been looking into these and it's a lovely looking car (and I bet it drives like it as well). A nice breath of fresh air next to the Germans.

Some negatives I've noticed though:

- It's small inside, especially in the rear
- The boot is not very well finished, some bare alu, rear seats can't fault entirely flat
- It's heavy, although Jaguar says of having used lot's of aluminium, it doesn't show in the overall weight. My former Alfa 159 was slaughtered in the EU media for being too heavy. The XE is quite a bit heavier. (which isn't even't emntioned by those same media, not a first)
- It's pretty expensive, on par or even slightly above a 3 series, depending on spec.

Autocar ranks it above anything else in it's class which given the above seems a bit odd.

Any owners ? And how do they sell in the UK ?

??

Nobody said it didn't sell.

Just think it's odd that it doesn't seem to get much attention on Pistonheads, it's a fairly new car.

Let's be honest a lot are not bought by the owners, but selected from a list of cars. There isn't really the emotional connection with most drivers.

Can't work out the 10,000 sales bit? What's the message in that sentence?

The XE S V6 supercharged engine is a slightly de tuned version of the F Type 3 litre and built by Jaguar.
I spent a day in an XE S demo last week as a possible replacement for my V8 XKR 5litre(need rear seat).
The performance and comfort are exceptional and a lovely looking 4 door saloon.
I have decided to buy a new one and hope to have it soon.
Very impressive.

I have the privilege of working at the engine plant in Wolverhampton, part of the team testing the diesel engines being built there.
