I went along to the XE Unleashed driving experience today.

We went to the local one at Longcross.

A great day, a real credit to Jaguar. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly people, no hard sell, nice food and little or no hanging around.

The XE - We drove a 180 S Manual on the road. Not sure I'd choose that spec personally, even if it was real money being spent, but the finish was very good and the chassis is pretty impressive as most of the reviews say.
Turn in was very impressive and there was a good amount of grip. Performance felt good for the power and it was a nice refined drive, with good ride and noise suppression for a 'sports saloon'.

I've not driven a recent 3-Series or a C-Klasse, but it was much nicer to drive than a standard A4.

Highlight of the day was the fast laps in the F-Type with a professional driver.

I can see the XE being a great seller, especially if they get the Lease pricing for companies right.

A few people there were clearly 'old school' Jaguar owners and found the cars a bit too performance focussed, but I guess Jaguar have variants in the XE range which are more softly sprung to keep them happy, I just hope people look past the Germans when thinking of this class of car.

Waiting to get out in to an i4 R-Sport and XE-S at my local dealer. Yet to see if I get that phone call back as promised.....

Anyway, after nearly 2 months since customers got the first cars, not seen one on the road.......

I've seen 4 out and about. It looks quite good on the road I think. My choice would be a 6pot.

All Jaguars should have 6pots, or 2 of them, arranged in straight lines :-)

I think the lease prices will make or break them. I have wanted to run a Jag XF in the past but the contract hire costs were so out of step with the German competitors that it really was poor value for money.

I await with anticipation the XE and new XF contract hire rates.

I'm waiting to test drive the 240 i4 v's V6-S. Dealer says can't try either yet, which doesn't add up......

XE 240 i4 R-Sport is exactly the same price as the 328i M Sport. Waiting for my own b2b test and as ever the Jag needs to be the same price or better than the BMW or it will lose. Ca$h is king, can't pay more for 'a badge' these days........

That does seem odd not being able to TD the cars. Booked myself a run in the 'S' for next Saturday, look kind my forward to seeing how it drives as I feel the 3 series has lost its way recently (for me). Was impressed with car in the showroom, a few areas where you can clearly see the quality isn't quite up to the German rivals but the perception was it was a nice place to sit and again, for me, much nicer than a 3, C, or A4.

Only trouble was I was getting distracted by a number of XKR's sitting on the forecourt.........

One of my colleagues has been given an XE as a Courtesy Car while his XF is serviced. So availability would appear to be the issue.

Seen a few of them on the road now, and been especially noticable since I went around the XE production line at Coventry at the beginning of July.

Quite like the look of them, and they seem to be hitting the right headlines in all the magazines, where they test it back to back with A4, C-class and 3 series. Given these are all newly released cars, I agree it will come down to the pricing particularly for those on leasing or PCP schemes.

Saw one today on the road for the first.

Seemed to be an entry level model on small wheels. It looked quite nose heavy and unbalanced with the dumpy boot.

I'm sure you'll not let the view on some bloke in something as criticism worthy as an x type take away from the pleasure of your new car. wink

The one i saw had spoked wheels and they looked smaller than those, plus it definitely wasnt an R Sport.

smile

This has 18" wheels and overall I think looks pretty good. It will be my daily drive when it isn't sunny, and when I need back seats, cos when it is sunny the BGTS comes out smile

Yes, two seater only is a bit restrictive. My x type estate lies down at the airport most of the week and is a dog carrier when needed at the weekends. 370z the rest of the time. driving

Its because the V6 isn't producing what it should do. Major caffuffle at Jag IMHO.
