2003 Xj350 Navigation Module

My XJ Navigation module has suddenly gone silent on me when it should be giving me directions. All other functions work perfectly, but whenever it should give me a direction for my planned route I just hear silence. The radio or cd cuts out ready for the instruction but its just met with a period of silence.
I have toggled the mute button on and off, and have tried it on several trips over recent weeks, but all to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas why my Jaguars navigation module should have fallen out with me and be giving me the silent treatment?

At the point when it's supposed to speak, turn up the volume. It's pretty easy to zero it by mistake if you happen to be turning the audio down when the nav voice speaks.
