Anyone know if either of these cars are coming and if so when? I've tried the dealer network but little information was forthcoming. Lots of talk about the F Pace but I want an estate not SUV. Thanks.

This, and last I heard Jaguar had said there will be no XE sportbrake as they expect customers in that market will buy an F-Pace instead. I have a feeling that may come back to bite Jaguar.

That's what my dealer said which is a shame as the number of german wagons out there is huge. Oh well I can't buy a Jaguar if they won't sell what I want!

That's a pity, when the time came to replace LadyB8's wagon I'd been hoping to persuade her to try the XF, she's an MB girl at heart. I've no interest in an F-Pace, I don't own a farm so I don't need a tractor, but I suspect the current "Mum's taxi" will need replacing before we no longer need a "Mum's taxi" and a V6 XF wagon looks like a good fit for the job.

Yes it would be a shame if they don't do an XE Sportbrake, it would be an ever bigger shame if they don't do one for the new XF. Mrs. 8bit currently has a Merc ML320 for the mum taxi which has been back to the dealer umpteen times in the 14 months we've had it, I've been trying to gently guide her in the direction of an XF Sportbrake for a while now, but she's now convinced that "expensive cars just go wrong all the time".

I actually like the look and idea of the F-Pace, we don't live on a farm either but the ML320 warmed me to the idea of the SUV as a mode of transport and the load-carrying capacity is undeniably useful. I just hope Jaguar don't shoot themselves in the foot by trying to force customers who'd otherwise buy an XE or XF Sportbrake into buying an F-Pace because I think they'll find man of those customers switching brand rather than accepting what they're offered.

Yep and now that you can get a three series touring with 4WD there is little need for SUVs in this size range if you don't want one.

I'm not sure I washed LadyB8's E320 for the first 5 or so years, I mean every time they go back to the dealer they get valeted. Come time that it needed an extended warrantee MB paid for it with no questions asked... "Have you thought about an extended warrantee?" "Yes, we think you owe us one" "Yes, you're probably right" sort of conversation. Didn't stop us replacing it with an E350 which, touch wood, has been a massive improvement. When that reaches the point when the next trip to the garage is likely to cost more than the car is worth then an XF Sportsbrake looks like the closes thing on the market so would certainly be worth a look.

Same here - I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've washed the ML, the dealer has "washed" (or at least hosed it down) every one of the 10 or so times they've had it in.

I agree with you. I've had an X-Type Estate, currently have a Volvo V60 and would gladly have an XE estate next, if such a car existed.

Yep, another vote for wanting XE and XF Sportbrakes here. I'd buy one.

I hope that Jaguar are reading this. Lots of people like 'traditional' estate cars rather than SUVs. Surely the engineering costs of changing the saloons from the C pillar backwards are not silly in relation to the incremental unit sales?

pretty sure they use proper market sector research and analysis rather than a few random comments on piston heads

And how many times have we seen "proper market sector" screw things up?
I'm pretty sure that Sir William never ran a "customer clinic" to find out what design to do, I'm sure he just did the right thing.

How many times will a customer focus group come up with something which is bold, radical and right?

I picked up my XF Sportbrake last Saturday.

Dealers didn't know if or when the new XE/F sportbrakes would be coming

There are some very good deals to be had on the run out XF though

Edited as I wasn't concentrating when I wrote the first message

Pics or it didn't happen smile Thanks for the heads-up on the deals though, I might see if the wife could be persuaded to consider changing the ML early.

Indeed, we all pump our own perspective. I am sure that the business case for the F Pace is strong but the incremental cost of making the XE a wagon as well must be worth the investment.
