Letter in Autocar re XE S

The letter writer had the latest version Alpina D3 ,for anyone not into Alpina this is the BMW 3 series with the 335d engine breathed on by Alpina ,including new mechanicals 350bhp 515 lb torque etc Suspension etc etc.

He test drove the XE S and was blown away ,by the engine and the handling ( against an Alpina handling that is something) he said the Derv was just a tad quicker but loved the Jag engine far more.

So hes taken a financial hit to get into one.

Read all the reports it beats BMWs new 340i in nearly every dept.Thing is it comes in around £46k I think and BMW are giving big discounts on the new 340i so probably £7/8k+ more expensive...so thinking aloud are Jag overpricing their wares ala the F series and now this? Id love one by the way !!

Nice sounbite but not allways true ,there is a 9k difference in price on Broad speed (for a slower car by the way and less MPG to boot)

I would love one but thats a price difference too far I reckon
