Hi All,

Just had a. V6S for the weekend, did the long motorway trip, went across the Brecons and through Welsh B roads.

Never been a fan of autos, and was pretty frustrated initially using the full auto mode. Went quickly on to sport mode and used gears manual - much more like it and on some B roads it certainly made things fun.

However I still hanker after a manual but there are so few around and no demos I can find yet.

So anybody tried one, or gone all manly and ordered one?

I tried to get one a year ago, no demo's and everyone talked me out of it. Eventually bought a V6S with 8spd auto. Its good enough for me, and it still drives superb.

Hi Wayne. I've just taken delivery of a 2016 Coupe V6 Manual. I tried the flappy paddles, but really didn't like the experience. I was originally looking for a second hand manual, but they were pretty rare, so I opted in the end for buying a new one instead. Ordered it in late Dec 2015, picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

I'm coming to the Jag brand from a prolonged period of Porsche ownership (two caymans, one boxster, one 911), so it'll be interesting to compare the vehicle, and the overall ownership experience.

My first impressions with the manual box are very positive. It has a nice feel to it. Perhaps not quite as precise as the Porsche boxes, but definitely up there with the boxes on my missus' last two TTs. I read a few reviews saying that the footwell space was tight with the 3rd pedal, but I'm not experiencing that problem (size 9 shoe). The clutch bite point is a little high, but it didn't take long to adjust to it.

All in all, very happy with my choice so far...

Hi,

Thanks for the info, would be great to hear how you get on. I too have had boxster/911 so will be interesting to see how it compares, the 911 is also the "other" choice on the cards.

I am sure the auto is ultimately faster, but on today's speed restricted roads I think the extra interaction is what I am looking for.

You are right about availability, my dealer has no idea how he would get one for me to try out...
