DRIVEN a Prestige 2.0d auto
Great looking in R Sport trim and launch model spec the dealers have
Smooth gearbox, quiet engine except under load when pulling off ...
Ride is poor vs the Macan; which Jag admit they compare it against, handled ok but when sat in the back felt like being in a minibus.
Reminded us of the Evoque in too many ways
If only the Porker was cheaper ... or maybe an Evoque with Adaptive / Dynamic suspension
- Anyone driven one?

Lady Topaz - what didn't you like about it? I'm considering both F Pace and XJ when I move my Range Rover on, so it would be good to know. Thanks
Well its a long story, but we had an FType R and loved it. Circumstances dictated we needed something to carry our grandson in so we started looking at a RR Sport. The dealers were pretty hopeless and also offered way below market value on part exchanging the FType. We heard about the launch of the FPace so decided there and then to put a deposit on a First Edition.
Meanwhile we still had to have something to tide us over until the FPace arrived. I was told the FType would lose around £1,000 per month in depreciation so I thought why not do something daft in the interim and went for an XJL Portfolio which I was told would lose around £400 a month.
We loved this car.
During the 8 month wait for the FPace things started to turn sour. There was a lot of kit absent from the First Edition that buyers had thought was included as per first reviews. Also Jaguar would not let any options be added.
We stuck with it without much enthusiasm and when it arrived, after our first drive we knew we had made a mistake. Despite positive reviews we found the ride harsh, very noisy, especially on mways and the power delivery very uninspiring. The interior was just ok and the lack of even items like memory seats or dipping and blind spot mirrors really irked.
We persevered for over 1,000 miles and on the way back from a trip to the Cotswolds decided to see if our dealer could sort out a deal on something else.
As luck would have it, he had a 3month old XJL Autobiography ex dealer car with 2,900 miles on the clock. As it had already taken a big hit on depreciation, our dealer proposed a straight swap to which we agreed and we are now back in ridiculous luxury and my grandson can watch tv in the back. This car is superb.
Big grins back on our faces.
On the FPace forum there has been much bhing re missing spec and also a lot of teething problems.
You might do well to have read before making a decision. I know for certain one guy there has done exactly the same as us and collects his XJL this Saturday.
Sorry for being so long winded.

I bet the XJ is lovely though! We heard about the launch of the FPace so decided there and then to put a deposit on a First Edition.

The dealer saw you coming !!
Reading lady topaz post I doubt he cares if that's the case. The dealer saw you coming !!
Not like I have anything near the money to own such cars but I get the impression he's looked at what the product is actually like rather than the bling and hype, and sounds like he's moved to something much more fitting to actually use.
A very interesting little read it was.
Sadly, my view has changed, after 6 months of owning two of them and all the issues that came with them, they have both been rejected and I have gone back to a trusty and fantastically built 5 series.
Lovely looking cars, but JLR use us as their R&D mules, and I for one was not prepared to put up with it.
Sad but true.

My best advice is save yourself some gar and look elsewhere...I had an S, 3.0d 22" helix, IRR with red/black leather, ICTP and black pack.
Had both software and hardware issues. The software is now affecting new Range Rover and Disco 5 owners as well, so lets see where that goes....
