Other half has his mind set on on a 2010-2012 XF 3.0D.

We can stretch to about £15-16k so a newer shaped non-S, or an older boggly eyed S. Is it worth going for the older S? Other criteria are >2010 and less than 50k miles.

Also, any issues with the older or newer ones?

Thanks, Lucie.

Stuff the 3.0D. Go for the 5.0 petrol n/a instead, a real Jaguar! Should be able to source one meeting your criteria.

The 3.0D is a nice motor by the way.

S or non S wouldn't bother me personally you can always fettle with the lower power version.

Spec is everything IMHO. Make sure you get the jag sport interior, Xenons and rear parking camera which are a must..!!

Go for the later non S with the 8-speed box as already mentioned. Better looks both inside & out. Also the Portfolio model has oodles of extras.

Issues - as with all Diesels from any maker will be the miles done on a daily basis. Too low, and you're going to get DPF problems. Other than that, not a lot to worry about. They suffer a driver's door rattle, but that manifests itself early on, so should be fixed by now. 20" alloys do buckle easily due to our roads, so watch vibrations at motorway speeds.

My 14-plate S will be on the market just as soon as I find an XFR in the right colour scheme.

I have just made the same switch (my S was a 10 plate however). You wont regret it smile

Just wish I did it when I bought the current one. An R was only £4K more at the time, and that's with £10K off mine new.
