My 3 year old F Type has broken down with something mysterious - "perhaps the cam shaft". It is one month out of warrenty. Does anyone have any experience of Jaguar extending their warranty if it has recently expired?

My friend has an XKR and had 2 issues, one was the electric handbrake and the other i rear diff fault, both were just out of warranty, but as he uses the local jag dealer for services the service manager got approval to do both faults under warranty which ended up having a new diff fitted at god knows what cost, under goodwill warranty from jag.

I would push hard and ask for this same level of goodwill, and point out (if you have) that you serviced at main agents and in accordance with service schedules.

Be firm but fair, hopefully it will end well.

good luck

in my work we use IT kit from the likes of DELL/HP/Cisco etc and most of these do offer a goodwill gesture depending on the level of your ownership, and most offer between 1-3 months grace before writing off warranty.

Of course its a case of needing to press the issue firmly, as with anything these days a little fight is worth it.

I'm sure Jaguar UK would not want to lose you to a competitor brand like Bmw/Audi/Merc/Porsche etc so worth name dropping and expressing where your cash will go if not dealt with favourably! argue

We have something very similar with a BMW X5, I can't remember exactly what the fault was, but it was pretty major gearbox related issues about 6 weeks after the warranty expired. Our local dealer contacted BMW directly, we ended up coming to a slight compromise in which we paid for the consumables and they ultimately paid for a new gearbox.
I would hope Jaguar would do something similar - best of luck.

If they don't come up trumps, then start throwing thr SOGA at them. You have 6 years warranty on a car, so long as it hasn't been abused, and been serviced @Jaguar.

Isn't it always?
Certainly always was with LadyB8's first MB.

Great to hear they made you feel like a valued customer, which is what we all generally want.

Great to see that Jaguar UK have done the honourable thing. I had some experience with warranties and Jaguar UK with my S-Type: 3 replacement gearboxes all under warranty and not much effort to achieve this.

TuxMan indicates a warranty extension cost of around £650. Good for him. I've just renewed the warranty for my seven year old XF and it cost over £1200 for the year...and it's not an XFR!
