The price quoted for your car is about 20% of the cost of the official Jaguar warranty for my 09 plate XF, an admittedly newer car than yours. Like all warranties, insurance policies etc, the starting point for comparisons is not the cost but the breadth of the protection and what's not covered, and only once you know what you're getting and not getting should you move on to price. Many people look at price alone. At your price I'd be thinking the price has been misquoted or there's so many exclusions not much is actually covered.

I had an S-Type from almost new for over 10 years and I extended the warranty after 3 years for 6 years at about £1000 a year(Jaguar warranty does not go beyond 10 years). The car was great, the only problem was with the gearbox. I had 3 replacement gearboxes all under warranty and with barely a quibble. That's in addition to other warranty work of a less dramatic nature.

In my view you get what you pay for with warranties.

As above, it's all in the wording. Check the exclusions very, very carefully. Also check whether it covers consequential damage too - many warranties don't, which means when your cambelt snaps they'll pay for a replacement cambelt but not the bent valves and pistons that came together when it broke.

I paid for a warranty on a Boxster S. It popped a core pug and knackered the head - it wasn't covered and cost me £2.5k.

When I bought my XJR I got them to throw in a year's warranty for free, but there's absolutely no way I'd have paid for it on top of the price of the car.

Not saying anything about consequential damage means to me that it's not covered...be pessimistic when reviewing the wording. I'd give Olympic a call and get clarification, and maybe in writing too.

If it covers the air suspension compressor and the torque converter lock up clutch, go for it!
