Anyone on here feel as I do, that the coupe is far more beautiful and resolved in its proportions than the convertible?
agreed.
simply beautiful.
ferrari, et al, look like a baroque, bloated, decadent whore's handbag contents, when compared to the purity of this design.
form follows function.
very few others get it right; those that do include:
concorde
ducati 900ss
erm ...
Follow up for the E:

i'd have to go with the tvr tuscan
straight 6 normally aspirated with loads of torque but also with top end
fhc or ots( ok so in one model)
fast
good looking
relatively cheap for it's performance

OK we all love the E Type, but can I use one every day, covering 10k per year?
Wondering what to replace the S type with and have a weak spot for old cars.
Overall I reckon the depreciation saving will pay for any service work and keeping it in top condition.
Any body use one regularly?

Not really.
But, if you can afford a Beacham E-Type, you could drive it every day.
Beacham are based in New Zealand and they make Mk IIs and E-Types with modern running gear.
Here is how it goes. Strip a real E-Type V12 and fully concours rebuild it. At the same time, install a new front subframe capable of taking a Jaguar XKR V8 Supercharged engine mated to a 5 speed auto and then install an XKR final drive. Next, fit air con, airbags and electric everything - including SatNav if you wish.
New and built to your interior and exterior spec. such an E-Type would cost from £90,000. We just happen to have one in stock and ready to go - absolutely top spec incl nav and power hood, twin airbags etc - in black with biscuit interior and with chrome wire wheels and tubeless modern tyres. Car has covered only 1,000 miles and can be had for £79,995.
Loadsamoney ? Well, see if you can buy an E-Type and an XKR, pull both apart, then put the best bits into one car and ship it from the other side of the world -and make a small margin - for anything less !!
If you call Peter Hugo at Racing Green Cars - 01252 544 888 - he will look after you. He also has a Beacham Mk II - which incorporates the engineering from a supercharged 4.0 Litre XJR - for sale at the same price, having also covered only 1,000 miles.
Best Regards
Chas

can you use an e type as an everday car, well sorry to disagree with racing green, but yes you can, indeed i would argue they are one of the few classic cars that you can easily, just because of the huge availability of spares and upgrades available, in effect the car has now had 40 years of development, they are not modern cars, you don;t get your instant windscreen demist in the morning, if you wax oil and keep an eye on them , then you can keep the rust at bay, the su carb models will do between 20-25 mpg if set up correctly, don;t worry about the milage, they'll eat it easy, in fact they like to be used, the worst thing you can do is put them in a garage and polish them
the good news, no road tax, cheap insurance, minimal depreciation and if you're a compay car driver you pay tax on it's original purchase price, just over 2k
the bad news is they get attention everywhere, gt used to people you don't know talking to you and admiring the car, oh and they make most modern cars look fat
i personally don't see the point of beechams, eagle e types do cars which are closer to the original spirit, if you ask me, an e type shell with all the parts of an xk8 is just an xk8 in disguise and is it really that disimilar from the e type kit cars, some of those use e type body panels, and e types never came with a v8, lyons specifically choose not to put a v8 in them
if you're serious, contact me and come drive mine, drive a few before you decide, but once they're in your blood they're hard to get out
