I've just received a recall letter for Jaguar to have the crankshaft speed sensor replaced. The recall code is J067 and states it is a voluntary safety related recall. In my view this should mandatory as the speed sensor failed in my XF whilst in the outside lane of a 5 lane motorway section. When you get a gearbox failure, DSC failure, quickly followed by engine failure in such a situation, it really does concetrate the mind somewhat. Anyway, if you have one of the above vehicles, get it checked, NOW.

I'm now onto the dealership that did the work, to try and get my money back, since it's now subject of a recall. biggrin

I also received the recall letter
My XF suffered this fault 3 months ago , VERY VERY SCARY
Jaguar main dealer could not find the fault but charged me £100 for diagnostics.
Had this happen to me 4 times before finally finding an independent garage to diagnose fault and fix it
Had to hire a car for a while as I was too terrified of the possible consequences of driving it, could not sell it as it was a potential deathtrap.
Paid £300 for the repair.
Contacted Jaguar customer service about the recall letter and explained all of this. Sent them copies of invoices as requested.
A few days later they call me back to say that if I take it back to the Jag dealer and they can confirm that the correct Jaguar part has been fitted, they will refund me THE COST OF THE PART !!!
Found this to be a disgraceful offer and told them so
If this fault leads to a motorway pile up , as it is very likely to, unless all vehicles affected are sorted, the publicity for Jaguar will de deservedly very bad.

I have just emailed the chief executive of Jaguar uk, personally, waiting to see if I get any response.
Will post on this site if I do so.

Hope you do, but I would be surprised. The only real issue for me with Jaguar is their Dealer network and exactly this type of attitude!

I went back to my local dealership, where I had the work done, and they immediately gave me my money back, so they're not all bad.

Happy to report that a personal email sent to Jag CEO ( sent at 2am ) finally resulted in a full refund of my expenses , after getting nowhere with customer services

Great result, but shame you had to chase it so far up the chain.
