I think it may be a 6 litre HE (XJ81 and X300)

I am fairly sure its from a 6.0 litre from the X305 saloon, easily identifiable as has no distributor set up.

The engine has two 6 post (Ford) coil packs mounted in the vee but is on a pair of aftermarket (Emerald) ECU so I don't know if the coils are standard. I cant see any evidence of it ever having had a dizzy.

So if this engine has always had coil pack is the firing order still the same as those with a dizzy?

Thanks
Steve

The standard set up on the X305 was the two ford coil packs that you have. The front pack powered the left land bank(bank B as Jaguar call it). No 1 cylinder lead being at front rh side of each coil pack and the sequence runs clockwise so that no 6 is on the left hand side at the front. Original leads are numbered. Firing order is as all previous v12's.
Unlike previous v12's the x300 series ecu controlled both fueling and ignition, but security coding made it a difficult donor hence I imagine why yours has the emerald setup.Hope this helps.

Hi, I also have a 1996 6.0 double six X305 and have just come across your post. My car is fitted with an Ecu LNA141OEC which cuts out after 5 mins and the diagnostic machine can't read. Checking with Jaguar parts suppliers the Ecu should be LNA141ONB or LNB141005...no one seems to know have heard of my Ecu part number. My question for you is...as I can't find stock of an ECU for an X305, if I fit an Emerald one, will it work as a plug-in like for like without issues? Assistance much appreciated!
