Prone to rust. Check front and rear screen surrounds, rear wheelarches, bottom of front wings, sill closing panels, all jacking points, inner sills, under bonnet bulkhead and all over floorpan. In short everywhere that might rust underneath probably will.

Lacquer peels, bumper brackets corrode and allow the bumper to drop.

LED clock display will fade and security / alarm systems can fail. All electrics and climate control need checking to make sure they work.

Brake judder and wheel vibration are common problems. Important to have good quality tyres.

Engines, gearboxes and drivelines are crude but practically indestructible. Diffs whine at high miles.

Suspension bushes and shocks get tired. Listen for knocks and rattles over bumps and check tyres for uneven wear patterns or heavy feathering. Car should drive and stop straight.

Essential to buy the very best well cared for example you can find and be prepared spend time and money to look after it. Parts are reasonable and the X300 is ancient technology so it's mostly a simple and easy car to DIY.
