The cigar lighter bezel (and cruise control switch) on my 92 XJS has broken tabs, which I gather is more or less unavoidable if you ever remove the switches. I've bought a new bezel from Jaguar to replace it but cannot work out how to remove the cigar lighter barrel from the old one. I can add a photo on the weekend if needed, but it basically passes through the bezel but then has a plastic ring around the edge to stop it falling through. I am wary of applying too much force to get this plastic ring off, but I cannot see any other way to remove the existing barrel from the old bezel.

Anyone here know how to do this properly?

If the XJS cigar lighter is like all others then grasp the metal base behind the veneer, put your thumb inside the element, ie. the female body, to unscrew the outer metal holder.

You are right the plastic trim surround is brittle and I think you'll find that there will be a small light attached to the metal body as well. HTH

Worked a treat, thank you. Next I need to find a bezel for the speed control switch! Showing as NLA for RHD cars...
