All, it appears that both fuel pumps failed on my XJS and I'm going to need to pull the tank. Does anyone have a write up on the procedure. It's definitely the pumps as i put 12v to them and got nothing.

Thanks.

Not sure you say both fuel pumps?
I have had similar problems, its a bummer of a job but you need to remove the spare wheel and such, then remove the saddle straps which hold the tank in place, and caefully side it out, you wont need to remove the tank or anything else.
I have failed to ask if its a submerged type pump or not, if its external then you are in luck very easy, follow the car manual.
If its a submerged type pump? check the connection of the tank, located on the upper right hand side behind the trim covers, mine had melted the connectors, all I did was change to a heavy duty house hold connecor block instead of the jag unit that was 4 years ago, no problems now.
If it is mounted in the tank slide it out remove the top evap cannistor and then work from within, may help to remove fuel tank level guage from the tank, it will give a little more access, and light.
Hope it helps
