Hi All,

Does anyone know how to re-programme the key fob for an S-Type?
The unit has stopped working and I have replaced the battery but still no joy.
I guess it has lost it's memory, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

It needs to go into a Dealership mate. Remember to take BOTH keys with you as they'll re-code both.

Hi,

Any Independent Jag Specialist who has the Autologic Diagnostics can re-program key fobs etc. Don't know where you are based but Elite & Performance Jags in Derby can do them with the above kit, charge £29 + VAT Tele; 01332 265826

Both my key fobs stopped working and the dealer said there had been many failures. Mine were sorted under warranty.

When I had a rental S-Type a couple of years ago the fob stopped working, I called the Hertz help line and said the remote fob wasn't working he imediately asked whether I had a Jag. The batteries are always going flat he said.

This was a surprise to me. My X300's remote batteries lasted years, "my one" finally went flat after just short of 12 years, the wife's one is still going strong, the car was a Nov 94 car which I've owned since May 96 and I know the battery has ever been changed since then.

Having said that, the S-Type remote, and other newer Jag's fobs I've driven are completely different to the X300s. Don't you just love progress.

Still I must get around to reprogramming my fob too.

9 times out of 10 it isn't the battery, there was an issue with the key loosing its coding (probably a software fault). It's largely been rectified now though. thumbup

Hi all,

I have an S-type 1999 model and I have a seperate alarm fob and key (with transponder). I would really like a key which has the alarm buttons on it, so it is one unit, not two.

However, I have called several Jaguar dealers and specialists and everyone has told me that it can't be done.

This seems very stange to me, because we are talking about a key, a 433 Mhz transmitter and a transponder. Why is it an issue in how these are put together in one box?

Does anyone know why this 'is' the case?

I am an electonics person, so I understand what each function does, I just can't understand why there isn't a 'mod' to make it work if there is no off the self resolution.

Surely if the transponder won't fit in the flip type key, then it can be made to fit a non standard place inside the key? I can't see that the actual key or the remote locking 433Mhz transmitter can be an issue.

Comments anyone?

Thanks,
Dave.
