I've just bought an S Type (3.0 SE) as my daily driver. It's a lovely car, and I'm very happy with it.

I'm looking for a technical resource site, but haven't been able to find one yet. Does anybody have any recommendations?

All I need for the moment is to figure out how to get the radio out so that I can plumb in a handsfree kit, and it's easier to find a description of how to do it easily, rather than working it out for myself, with all the joys that involves

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

There are quite few very helpful, technical types here.
Another site to take a look at is www.jag-lovers.org
I don't know what the S Type forum is like but all the ones I've frequented have been very helpful.

Thanks Ken. That seems to be quite an active forum. I haven't found an answer to my question there yet, but I've found out answers to loads of questions that I didn't have

You want the JTIS which is generally available on eBay.

To remove the radio, you first need to remove the trims at the sides and bottom, with a thin blade screw driver, gently lever the trim away from the radio and then out towards you. The trim on the bottom you lever it down away from the radio then towards you it should come out. Then remove the 8mm head bolts. Now put a nice thick rag, or cardboard on your J gate to protect from scratching. Now pull the radio/ A/C panel towards you. Unplug the A/c panel first, then the Radio, and phone if fitted. Hope this helps, any questions feel free to ask.

Just fitted a Nokia CW-7K handsfree system to my S Type. Mine came with the Jag Startac system which I was hoping to adapt however, after much research I found that this would be almost impossible. Mine is a 2000 W reg car. I got a telemute lead from a firm I have used several times (Dogegg tel 084582827 Alan is the guy to speak to)This cuts out the need to chop the wiring loom, as you just unplug the conectors from the back of the radio and plug it in. It also mutes the radio and puts the speech through the audio speakers so you dont have to fit an additional speaker. If you do go for this lead the control box that connects the speaker fits behind the radio. The power lead is then long enough to feed along the centre console, you can then fit the nokia control box under the centre console. I then fitted a Nokia cradle to the old Startac cradle in the centre console box. The big advantage of the CW-7K is that it also works via bluetooth so if you don't want to use the cradle it will still work handsfree. My car has the premium sound system which has an additional power amp for the system, the only problem with this is that at present it does not fully mute the radio because the power amp is supplied separately. Alan at Dogegg did tel me the colour code for the wire which needs to be connected to mute the power amp but I have not got round to doing it as yet.
