You're right, it's a totally different car, I was just commenting on the joys of Jaguar trying to use the main disc for the hand brake. Feel free to ignore if it didn't appeal to your sense of humour.
Right, I see what you mean now. I think...

Don't see the issue with using the main caliper for the parking brake personally but that's maybe because mine has never gone wrong. Plenty of other manufacturers do it this way, too.
They do. One downside is if you lightly apply the handbrake after a massive hoon whilst the discs and pads are very, very hot they will contract and weaken grip as the assembly cools down and if you park on a slope the car might then roll into another car causing several hundreds of pounds worth of damage to both.

Ask my daughter, she'll tell you... biggrin

Fair point, but a separate caliper for the handbrake or a drum-in-disc setup will presumably heat up too? Also, an XKR goes berserk at you if you dare attempt to shut the engine down without first engaging Park so you'd be unlikely to have such a disaster in one of these.

Your daughter hoons?

She enjoys the road very well when the mood takes her. No idea who she's got the tendency from... whistle
