Being about the oldest so far in this thread I bought my first Jaguar, a flat floor E type, in 1967 for the princely sum of £300. It lasted 3 months before I wrote it off. I still have three Jaguars and apart from a period during marriage with young kids have had a Mk VIII, S type, XK140, Mk 2 and Mk 1, X300 3.2, another flat floor roadster, (27 years now that one and counting) plus the newer additions of two Lynd D types, short and long nose. Long may it continue!

Oh, and no, one is never too young nor too old to own a Jaguar!

Hi Peetbee. Looks like a nice motor that you have purchased there. Looks like a 4 litre Sovereign, possibly 1991/2 model? Looks like Regency red also or is it Flamenco - difficult to tell!

Probably down to personnel preference, but it seems fiited with body coloured grill vanes - which on a Sovereign should be chrome - an easy fix. Hope it serves you well. Enjoy.

Thanks Jaguarnut, it is indeed a 1991 4.0 Sovereign. The body coloured grill is growing on me but I may change it as long as nothing else requires my hard earned! The previous owner converted it over to twin headlights and I suspect got the grill painted at the same time as a rust free bootlid was fitted.

It's flamenco red (you're good!) and apart from a few stone chips is in pretty good condition, although I've just noticed a little dent in the bonnet that I'm sure wasn't there yesterday frown

Will be getting the waxoil this weekend in an attempt to keep the rust at bay.

The quad headlight set-up is far better. I prefer it from an aesthetic viewpoint, but the illumination is far better. The light units are cheaper to replace as well! The previous owner has also fiited the correct light surrounds for your year which is nice to see.

As for the waxoyl injection, it is well worth doing having squirted some 15 litres into mine!!! The usual plastic injection gun of the type sold by halfords et al is a complete waste of time. Far better (if you have access to an air compressor) is the "Sealy" wax injection gun which is air powered and comes with two lances, one for general spraying and one for box sections. Not cheap but it is a quality piece of kit that you can keep for waxoyl top-ups or doing the next car!!!

There are a few area's not immediately obvious which could do with a good waxing - fairly obvious if you study the structure. Just shout if you want some idea's!
