Hi Guys,

I'm picking up a new XK convertible at the weekend, and I’ve noticed in the literature that it mentions an active exhaust system, which I assume is similar to the one in my Aston Martin Vantage V8 where I can remove fuse 22 and the flaps are always open?

Is there a fuse you can remove in the XK to keep the exhaust open and loud all the time??

Thanks, Matt

Many Thanks for the feedback, i'll have a look in the manual to see if anything looks like vacuum pump or active exhaust fuse and see what happens.

It was fuse 19 in the fuse box between the rear seats but it's only the XKR that has a fully active exhaust the XK uses a semi active system and as far as I know it's the pressure in the exhaust that opens the valves so unless it's an R you might be out of luck.

What else does fuse 19 do and will there be any change in performance or is this just to satisfy the drive by noise regs. Would having the fuse out have any deterimental effects, like the valve being stuck open through corrosion after a time?

To be honest I've not bothered removing it, I tried it to see if it worked but I've actually got very used to the XKR being extremely nice, refined and quiet when cruising around and the valves open anyway when you boot it so don't really see the point of removing it.

Sorry for the delayed reply

I went for Midnight Black with all Black (Lux)interior and the Standard Aluminium Weave.

Also took the 20" Sentas(a must in my opinion), Premium Stereo, Front Parking sensors, Active lights, Lux Interior, Heated front screen, Keyless entry, garage door opener and the auto air circulator

John.

John, thats all the options there are, isn't it?!

Very nice, midnight seems to be a popular choice.

Tyre pressure and active front radar would have been the complete set. Just for the heck of it I suppose!

Yep that was all that was left, I did think about Adaptive cruise control but was advised not to bother so I didn't, should have probably got the tyre pressure monitor though, oh well

What about you triple7 what you thinking about spec wise? if you go for it of course

Hypothetically speaking of course, I like Lunar, but the Mrs doesn't. 'Slate' is being stopped and the replacement 'Pearl' is a very dark grey, too dark for us. The greys/silvers do show off the XK's lines beautifully under different lighting. Black is a great choice, but we are still undecided. As for options, probably just front park, I clipped my previous XKR's nose on the garage door once, never again!!!!

(PS Should say we are looking at an 2008MY car, which has Jag premium sound, heated screen, auto air recirc., aluminium pedals, 20 inch Cremona alloys as standard)

When will the 08 cars start appearing? Pearl sounds interesting, I initially was going for Slate but after seeing it in Midnight I knew that was for me. I didn't realise that 20" wheels are becoming standard is there an increase in price for the 08 car?

You don't get something for nothing, that's for sure! Base Coupe RRP £70,097, with the etras as part of the price. I have been told available from June build, July delivery.

The changes also include, no more telescopic aerial, it is being fitted with a sharks fin instead. Should be a retro fit for the pre-mod cars at some point in future. Other changes in the interior as well, tweaks really.

Interesting info on the 08...

I thought the new Ariel was going in the spoiler, any idea why that changed to a sharkfin?

John.
