Premium sound is a waste of money. Its fairly pants in my opinon, cant for the life of me see where the money went.

steelej If you get time go into the audio settings and set the fade fully to the rear speakers (in DolbyPLII) and tell me if you can barely hear anything?

I'll give it a go Krtyen, but I have to say I think the premium sound system is fantastic, I've got the sub setting fairly high, standard bass a few notches past centre, surround speakers again a few notches past centre, DSP set to all speakers and it just sounds great, way better than any stereo I've experienced in a car.

I've never seen the excitement with an in-car stereo, as long as the speakers don't vibrate and you can hear it, thats all you need? The base one seemed just fine in the XK I had. Anyway you've got quads out back to lay down the real sound track!

Maybe you guys need the Bowers and Wilkins stereo, ala XF & 2008MY XK. wink

All Portfolio extras will be available for the XKR as of Spetember build (Allegedly). For a price of course.

Blimey, it seems as though I work for Jag!

I quite fancied the B&W speakers when I saw the portfolio edition announcement, might see about getting them at some point if they're any good, the big brakes look quite cool too, do you think they'll become standard now 20" wheels are the standard item?

John. The brakes are what I have been waiting for, hence not ordering the car until I know exactly what's around the corner. Alcon brakes, I have been told are going to be £1700 available from September build. They will not be standard. (For now at least wink . The previous XKR had the Brembos added a few years after launch and became standard fit eventually, I expect the same to be true of the Alcons. it would be too expensive to design and build a whole set of brakes for just 60 portfolio edition cars me thinks.)

Thats the issue i was looking into. If you actually change the fade so that the sound is only coming out of the surrounds, the sound is very faint compared to the level of centre speaker as you fade it back in. Hence you dont get much surround effect. The centre speaker overpowers considerably.

Sh!!!!!!!!!!!!t. curse

I've just realised that I had DSP set to driver! banghead

When I set it to "ALL" the sound is fantastic. I've been driving around with relatively lame sound for 6 months.

Oh well.

Doh! It's the equivalent of accidently pressing the mute button and not being able to figure out why the hell there's no sound.

Well I'm glad you have seen some return with your purchase of the premium sound

Yeah, does sound good. Sounds wicked on CD, especially my daughters HumptyDumpty track after I forget to turn it off after dropping her off at nannies, and driving through town with windows down! cool

Shame radio needs real strong signal, as it can jump in and out of Surround (like Stereo of old).
