Ive had my 98 XJR for 2 months now and all is well.
This morning however when I turned it on I notice a small whining which sounded like it was comming from the supercharger it does it between idle then 1500rpm. When going down the road is it also noticable under light accerleration and de-accerleration a little, though after 40mph the road noise drowns it out, this is how quite it it. My chargers always whined when giving it some hard right foot, but never this low down rpm noise before. I'm probably over reacting though I just want to make sure. Does any-one else have the same thing and is there anything to worry about?

Superchargers very rarely fail, but when they do it is the bearing that goes, it may be this?

As a matter of interest how do you check the supercharger oil level

The Eaton MP112 is mounted upside down on the Jag V8s so you have to remove it and turn it right side up to access the oil level/fill plug. The plug is located on the snout extention and oil level should be to the bottom thread or just below it.

Got any diagrams or anything showing where we're looking?

Just remember on the Jags the supercharger is upside down and must be removed first.
