Snapper Auctions Some Tape

But it's off a Jag XF test mule, so it's ok

The tape itself
The tape itself
Brenda Priddy, spy snapper, is auctioning off some super special, uber exclusive car camouflage.

After tracking a heavily camo’d Jaguar XF mule, Brenda saw an engineer take some of its camo tape off and throw it away. Brenda (not one to get her hands dirty, you see) sent her assistant to pick up the ball of extra sticky tape. When she got home, she promptly put it on ebay with all proceeds going to charity.

The winner will receive not only the wad of stickyness, but also a print (or two, depending on how much this thing goes for) of the XF taken by Brenda herself and two purple pens. And if the bids go sky high you’ll get a hat, too.

If you fancy bidding, follow this link and you’ll get to the auction. If you do win, let us know.

Sales of Mad ebay items have always been a great way to promote a business or service that suffers from little or no product diferentiation.

The best example is Golden palace casino who bid £50,000 for a pice of chese on tost that looked like the virgin mary got a lot mor than that in media coverage.

I don't care what it came off, it's still old sticky tape. Surely this has no use or even 'interesting article' value?!

If you set the start price at 99p then your ebay fees will be much lower. silly

You know what, the thing about eBay is that we all shout at these pricks who buy this shit, but the guys at ebay and PayPal are the ones laughing.

It's shit like this that gets them so much PR, and they get richer by the minute.

Did you know the boss of PayPal owns a McLaren F1 road car...

The sooner that eBay does something that kills it off the better, what other ecommerce site do you know of that sells individual baked beans, jars of air, or worst of all, a used sanitary towel... YUK! frown

To be fair to eBay its not them that's selling all that crap, it's the afore mentioned muppets. As long as it's not anything illegal or overly offensive then why should eBay not let someone put it up for auction.

Oh, and so what if the guy that runs Paypal drives a McLaren F1, you say that like he shouldn't be allowed it. He was bright enough and lucky enough to come up with a useful service at the right time that became hugely popular across the world. There a plenty of rich people out there that deserve there money a lot less than that guy.

Ummmm...come on guys, its for charity, who cares if they get free publicity or that the item is actually a pile of junk? I am sure the new owner will just throw this item in the trash.

One day that tape along with the hat/pens and a record of the 'event' of the sale on ebay might be worth more than the car I expect. Give it 3 years....woohoo

Believe me, there is a lot of gear on eBay that is pretty 'hot' if you know where I'm coming from... it's given unscrupulous individuals a quick way to move on gear!

Although ticket touting is not yet illegal, it is something that is effecting the general public in a bigger way than before, and eBay has accelerated that problem to such a point that the government, thank goodness, are finally looking into seeing if the practice can be made illegal in the UK.

Two examples of how eBay is trading in a way that is close to criminal…

Remember the Kylie concert last year after she came back from taking time out to recover from breast cancer. Some people were buying up tickets and then selling at 2-4 times face value on eBay. They had purchased the tickets with no interest in the show, just trying to make a quick buck. Well in that case, Kylie ordered her management to recall all those tickets being sold on eBay, made them void and then released tickets to genuine fans, while those who tried to sell on eBay lost their money.

Second example is a personal experience. I wanted to get some tickets to see Joseph in the West End, but the tickets sold out on the weekend shows in a very short time, and I missed the opportunity of seeing the show with my family. Funny then isn’t it that eBay had 100’s of these prime time tickets going for 2-4 times face value. Another example of how many were only cashing in on a popular show, and had no interest in the show as their eyes were full of $$££!!

Before eBay became the ugly beast it is today, I could always guarantee getting a weekend ticket for a West End show, and was even fortunate to get premier tickets for Chicago woohoo For once I hope that the government do put a stop to trade of ticket touting online, to allow genuine fans, be it for football matches, motor racing, concerts, musicals or any other event for that matter getting the opportunity to buy at the correct face value.

PS. I had to laugh after so many bought lots of PS3 consoles in the hope that Sony would not have enough in the country on release… Seems many got their fingers burnt by the fact that Sony had either put enough in the stores, or that the PS3 was not selling as fast as the PS2 did all those years ago. Laugh? I pissed myself about that one rofl
