Some were disappointed over the XF styling not being as striking as the concept. It could have something to do with if they had made the XF a carbon copy of its concept it might not have left much scope for the redesigned XJ when it comes out. My feeling is that the XJ will resemble the XFC, but even more striking.

it's pretty much what i suspect, i think the master plan is to try and bring some of the old customers with them, so the xf is a softer version of the concept in an attempt to bring in new customers and try and reatin the old ones as well as introducing the way jaguar are going with thier saloons. The new xj will take it further and i wouldn't be surprised if not long after that the xf gets a face lift closer to the concept and to tie in with the new xj

Interesting thoughts peeps, and that also ties in with the fact that I was told that the C-XF lights were to be launched on the new XJ and that the XF would then get them as a facelift later on. This also ties in with the fact that the SV8 has the 4.2Supercharged engine and no XF-R until 2009. Oh isn't that when the new XJ is released????!!!

I agree the styling of the XF isn't as menacing as the C-XF, especially that the broad shoulders were lost. But here's hoping the XFR will look exactly like the concept.

Broad shoulders

No shoulders

As much as I like the XF, I do hope Jaguar come up with a different 'look' for the new XJ.

If you watch the xkr documentary they make such a fuss over the design of the lights and the light designer expert, it's crazy they weren't used, but it would make sense if it's going to evolve into the concept.

thanks for the comment on the e type, i get it back soon after 5 months, see it turns out there is a little nut that holds the spline together on the brake pedal and it's really important that it remians tight, but no one ever checks it. Anyway it turns out that long bonnet is a great crumple zone.
