I picked my 04 SE (diesel) today and just noticed when everything is switched off there is a distinctive buzzing coming from the dash. Lights on or off, all accessories off it does it. I only noticed it after stopping from the drive home but I've just been into the car for some papers and noticed it is still there.

Is this a common fault? Also any way to stop the arm rest creaking!

Your buzzing noise is probably your motorised aspriator ( not sure of spelling !! ), its a small fan, set in the dash just near your left knee. It senses in car temperature, and sends this info to air con/ climate control. They all make a bit of noise, but you can't normally hear them over engine noise. Maybe yours has something caught in it, or is just noisey. Would need to have someone look at it.
Also radio problem is not unusal ! The aerial is in the rear screen, so it could be the screen, could bo a poor connection, or it could be the aerial amp, which is located in the N/S D post, have changed a few of these under warranty. Really need to get it checked properly, but at least this gives you a starting point.
Hope this helps.

thanks!

The radio certainly needs looking at the rest of the car is fine. The buzzing noise I had discovered to be a fan of some sort and certainly can only hear it when the engine is off and doors closed.

In that case I would say that it is your motorised aspriator, there was a jaguar Technical Service bulletin to re-wire these so they only worked with ignition on. Currently yours is wired so it works with ign off for upto an hour or something. Nothing to worry about, but if you are bothered you could have it fixed.
