Don't know if anyone here is interested in seeing the pics of what we've just completed?
But we've replaced the bottom 12 inches all 'round, replacement roof fitted, new fuel filler boxes fitted, fully lead loaded, ground & polished the lettering off all the new stainless steel fixings, etc, etc, etc.
497 hours so far & about a week's work left. (Then the owner can begin the mamoth task of rebuilding it!)
My normal clientele (Italian metal owners) aren't that interested, so I thought someone here might bethumbup

Hope you don't mind me posting them, cheers, Al.

There are a few of old Jaguar nuts on here.

It's good to see a Mk VII being restored, they are too often over looked, as the cost usually far out weights the value of the restored cars.

I got an email last week from a friend who's just bought a Mk V to join his collection, I've not had a chance to go see it yet.

Good luck

Good to see that some people are still saving the old leviathans! How I still miss my Mk VIII. When I built my own house in 1997 I even had a stained glass window made with it in!

Cheers allthumbup
Chatting with the owner I have an idea of what the final cost will be - roughly 4 times the value!
But he is having a number of mods - we've modified the engine bay for PAS & aircon, he's having an LSD & a 4.2 hi-spec engine, not to mention the discs, stereo etc, etc, etc!!!!!!!!!!( & it's a manual with o/d anyway)
But it is going to be 'keeper' & he does a lot of Continental touring, so it needs to be useable.
Lowdrag - I think that's a sensational idea & I'd like to forward that pic to him if that's ok?
I'll post some more pics of the process if anyone's interested? Alternatively I'll take some with all of the panels on - did I mention we'd lead loaded & edge welded the doors to gap properly?
You can always have a scan of the websitesmile, but it's mainly Italian stuff!

You are very welcome to use the photo as you wish. As regards the cost of the car, I was talking to a friend about the cost of his fishing these days. I had no idea you could spend around £2,000 on a rod and I remarked that in my day a branch seemed to catch fish just as well. All it goes to show is that we all spend on our hobbies, so who counts the cost? Anyway, a good Mk VII completely restored must now be north of £40,000 but then having restored several cars and currently occupied with building from scratch another, I am in no postion to throw stones in glasshouses! And, just for fun, here is a photo of a Mk VII being used as it should be - Goodwood Revival 2006, and no, he didn't touch the chicane!

Cheers all, well she's finished as far as we are contracted.
537 1/4 hours. We quoted 500 so it's a relief to be this close on a job of this sizethumbup

Moving to larger premises & then Jensen CV8 & early 911 next!
