Lynx Eventer XJS . Where are they all ?
Discussion
This one sold at the recent Artcurial auction at the Le Mans Classic http://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?... claims to be one of only 2 TWR 6.0 engined cars. Price converts as £37k, so not cheap.
The Eventer sold at LMC is N°57, rare RS LHD Eventer but less unique that said in the advert. It was sold for 37.500 € + premium making a total price of 47.500 €. Since 2 or 3 years price are getting high and Eventers are not cheap anymore. 57 is now waiting for a complete rebuild as it seems she's not mint as told...
There are several others RS Eventers and some were converted to RS specs during restorations. All in there should be 7 or 8 RS/TWR or RSised Eventers at my knowledge.

Lynx was closed years ago and the actual owner, the same as Proteus, is focusing on his new Proteus C Type. They have no plan to convert XJS to Eventer anymore.
Last conversion, Eventer Facelift RS N°67 is said to have been converted for 50.000 £ ex VAT in 2002. From the owner I heard he paid more than that...

LYNX EVENTER 30th ANNIVERSARY 1982-2012
The first Eventer, the XJS shooting brake conversion by Lynx, was unveiled in August 1982 at Brown’s Lane during the Jaguar factory open days. Sir John Egan looked at it with disregard while the press unanimously emphasized the design and the quality of the Lynx conversion.
From 1982 to 2002, Lynx converted 67 XJS into Eventers plus 1 prototype which is still in existence. 2 of these Eventers were sold in Germany under another brand, they are known as Royal-Motors Las Vegas. Another one, or maybe 2, were sold in Germany by Arden under their own brand and renamed AJ3 Station car. Copies were made in the early 90’s infringing Lynx copyrights, in France by Les Ateliers Réunis which is supposed to have produced between 5 and 11 depending on the source, and in Belgium where Gerard Dulait made 1. Most of these Eventers or Eventers copies are supposed to be still in existence.
If you own one of these cars you’re welcomed to join us to celebrate the Eventer 30th Anniversary with Guy Black and Chris Keith-Lucas, founders of Lynx and fathers of the Eventer. Many are already confirmed, coming from Belgium, France, Germany and UK.
This meeting will be held in East Sussex on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21th October 2012. Access will be restricted to owners, accompanying persons and guests as we may not have facilities to welcome a large public. A short program will allow one day participants on Saturday.
If you are interested and want further informations, detailed program or registration form please e-mail pascal(at)LynxEventer(dot)com

Fantastic. I understand why the necessity to keep numbers down, but can some non-owing Phead member and Evater fans attend? happy to be ballast in another car if needed, etc...The first Eventer, the XJS shooting brake conversion by Lynx, was unveiled in August 1982 at Brown’s Lane during the Jaguar factory open days. I've just spent a fantastic half hour reading through this thread ....
From the mid 80's till the late 90's I use to live just down the road from the Lynx factory and twice a day use to walk my dogs past the gates of Lynx where you would often see Jaguars of different forms sitting in their yard outside ...
The Lynx D-types could be heard screaming up the Queensway Road while testing which was always great to hear :-)
BDF if I could ask(cheeky/beg)for a place at your meet ,I could possibly try and get in touch with the current owners of the old Lynx factory unit as there is a large car park right next to it (with a locked gate) that would make a great meeting place for the cars that were made at the site ...
let me know if your interested
P.s. I currently own a Jaguar XJR so I wont turn up in something un-Jaguar ;-)

Hi Phil,
If I'm not wrong, this should be the place ?
And this should be the wall used in the late years to shot new Eventers ready to be delivered.
Funny to see the Lynx workshop is now owned by a company with a logo very close to my pseudo on this forum. Is this a sign of god's?
Hello Phil,
Thanks for your interest and for your kind suggestion.
To go there on Sunday morning was in my intentions. If you could ask the owner of this factory and if they allow us to use their parking I think it'll be a very symbolic place to make a public meeting that day.
May I ask you to contact me by e-mail to see how you could help me to make it possible. You can mail me at pascal (at) LynxEventer (dot) com
Thanks in advance

To make a direct link with the topic (Jag guru, I hope you'll appreciate)
I actualy have no idea wher could be the red XJR-S Eventer show hereover. And I don't have anymore info's than the comment published with the picture in July 97 in Jaguar World
The metalic grey XJR-S Eventer ordered by Reverend Thomas Mendel is probably in Japan where the very same one is regularly spotted.
The 60th Eventer is still owned by the same owner in Brussels. He was asked to join us, he'll try to make it but will need to confirm later.

After reading BDF's thread about the Lynx Eventers I got me thinking back to other cars and vehicles that I had seen at Lynx over the many years I lived nearby ..
One that stands out in my memory is this stunning Ecurie Ecosse Transporter
But it did not always look this beautiful ..a rare picture of when she arrived at Lynx for a full rebuild in the late 80's
I remember seeing her when they had finished the rebuild sitting outside their gates with two Lynx D-Types on the upper deck looking absolutely stunning
Here's a link to the Ecurie Ecosse website for those that would like to know more about the vehicles history

1 or 2 years ago, a picture of the Ecurie Ecosse Transporter was published on the web. It shows the EE transporter loaded with a Lister and a D-Type and an Eventer parked at his side. One that stands out in my memory is this stunning Ecurie Ecosse Transporter

The picture was possibly taken in July 2001 at Silverstone during Coys Festival. I heard said that this Eventer, N° 56, was owned by the owner of the EE transporter. Could anyone help me to spot the owner and the car?
