Mike Abbas have sold some Eventers in Japan years ago. He's working now to bring them back in Europe were their price is going up.
N°44 is a blue one. It was sold by Mike Abbas to Japan in 2002, now it's on his way back to UK.
N°10, BRG, was for sale for years by Garage Nichiei in Japan. It was recently advertised by Mike Abbas at 32.500 £. I don't now if he solds it and were it went.
N°33 is the light green metalic (Sage Green), it stayed in UK until now, but again I don't know were it'll go.

The last one Eventer conversion (N°67) was made in 2002 for 50.000 £ plus donor car.
Recently a fully rebuild Eventer went for 85.000 € but you can still be lucky to find a decent one for 15 to 20.000
Today, to make an Eventer look alike (as Lynx didn't intend to make anyone anymore) from a good donor car will cost you around 65 to 70 K€ all in (in full respect of the original design inside and outside).

Does the lynx eventer have any other mechanical improvements because I just dont get why someone would pay so much for and XJS with a tailgate or am I missing something?.

guessing the limited production run has ensured exclusivity , now there is a guaranteed buyers market.

So a 30k good condition one is not going to lose you any money in the future

Thst's the well-known Foxbat, believed to have been used as a race support vehicle. Now since an XK150S fetched over $200,000 at auction why is this not worth more than esti, ated as a rarer - no unique - vehicle? The Eventer fits neatly into another thread running at the moment which started her:-

http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The car oozes class, is highly practical, (I know, I've driven one and toured in the company of many a time and what you can fit into it is phenomenal) and is just that little bit different if you don't want to run with the herd. I love 'em.

Edit: Lynx made them and then the company folded in, I think, 2006 (or was it 2007?). The new owners have mothballed Lynx and are only selling Proteus C-types at the moment. They sub-contract all work, having no employees except on the admin side, so no ability to make one I guess although I am sure the plans are there somewhere. However, if anyone is looking for one, I've mad a call and there is one still for sale I believe, and one with a ton of money thrown at it a year or so back to recommission it.

Rarity and practicality.

Also nice looking. One of the very few conversions that don't look "tacked on" .

See the Avon conversions on the XJ saloon for how not to do it.

Then compare the avon to the Lynx XJ6 convertible and you'll see what mph means - in spades.

How about the XJS Monaco, I beleive only 10 or 11 were built, the Sultan of Brunei owned 3, one of each, coupe, convertible and cabriolet.

I actually have the coupe in my workshop at the moment next to my own.

All that is being said about the Eventer was also said about the MGB GT when it first came out too, then it was made even better with the Rover V8; a very under-rated car.
I have spent all but £10k on re-doing the poor, yes poor work of Lynx on the body. Now its £45k+ and there is still lots and lots to go. One off's do not come cheap; your paying dedicated men, not a robot to make it.
If you want a cheap car, go to a show room with Glasses guide in your hand, don't look at one off's!

~Its 90% XJS isnt it just the roof and the rear wings changed so its not a coach built vehicle its an XJS estate.Unless the mechanicals are different its a hell of a price to pay just to get better boot access.

I guess that when it was new the only competitor was the Aston shooting brake, so I guess they could charge what they liked and would still be far cheaper.

John, your missing the point. It's not a matter of more carrying space, a tow ball and a wee trailer from Halfords would be much better for that. Is your house just for sleeping in, or do you like the style and if you can, do you 'improve it, add to it' just 'cos you like the looks you can add to it? If you only hold the cash/return argument and you still like cars, then just repair crashed ones, whatever the make and sell them as soon as your finnished.

I get the "Lister" as it has also got massive mechanical improvemnts and looks different. But the Lynx Eventer doesnt try to be anything other than an XJS estate I understand the valuation etc I just dont get the concept.

Of course, if the Eventer is a bit common and you don't get it here's one even more incomprehensible, and uglier too - the Vignale 330 GT

It look like a motorbike side car has had a night of passion with an XJS.
