This one looks minty http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XJ-Series-6-0-aut...
But they're never going to get £12k for it.

has had a full £23,000 restoration in the last 3 years with all invoices to be seen
This is the first time I have heard of a full restoration on an X300, with the car priced accordingly. I wonder how the market will respond.JI know the V12 from the E type, XJS and earlier saloons to S111. It's an engine which is pleasant and smooth, but stifled by strombergs in an E, fitting stand alone management and tubular exhausts lets the power and the beautiful sound out- why did they make them sound like hoovers, same period Ferrari V12s don't ?? The XJS and saloon with pre and post HE factory engines ALL have shocking fuel consumption and disproportionately low power. I have a 1991 XJS V12 Le Mans, which is 5.3 but has the late block and cats, and it flies, and makes it into the twenties on fuel consumption, and the thing has proper oil seals too. Presumably the X300 V12 has this much much nicer engine? That and a nice six speed manual would fix it for me!!

They have plenty power, one high compression version of the V12 produced during the pre-HE/HE crossover period has more power than anything other than the 6.0litre. The fuel consumption and lethargic progress is largely teh gearbox and torque converters fault; if your Le Mans was fitted with the spin dryer that passes for a torque converter and the 3 speed auto it would have the same symptoms.Changing the sound is also easy, just change the silencer boxes. They were designed to be quiet, that was part of the appeal of the engine especially in the SI - III XJ12, and why the cars also had ridiculous amounts of soundproofing and care taken to isolate the subframes using large rubber bushes. The exhaust manifolds themselves on the V12 are pretty good, they worked well for TWR and Group 44.
