VW are (finally) replacing faulty injectors before they cause a fault. My old man just had 4 injectors replaced on his passat. Certain engine codes apply. Definately worth a check. Apologies if it's a repost.

Afternoon

This is my first post on PistonHeads.

Can anyone tell me how extensive the injector recall is? Reason I ask is I have an a4 2.0TDI 170PS s-line SE quattro 07 plate, BRD code. I have not yet had a recal letter from audi for the injectors. The car was bought from audi and has a full audi service history. Were the injectors modified for the later a4's? The car seems to be running well at the moment.

Yeah, I was thinking to get the xmas/new year madness out of the way and drop in on my local audi dealership; a mere 2 miles from my place of work and ask them that. May just give audi UK a call though.. I have only once in 4 years had trouble starting the car and that was after it had sat for 2 weeks..cranked for 2 minutes then fired and has been fine since then.

Cheers

evening all

i got an answer phone message from my local audi dealership this afternoon. a very polite woman informed me that there was a recall on my a4 (170PS BRD)for the unit injectors to be replaced.. well, in point of fact the message stated that the break fluid was due for changing as has been 2 years since it was last done..tagged on to the end of that was the bit about the injector recall. seems to me that these vehicles are only being recalled when something else is flagged up for service or replacement.. i am glad for the call but also disappointed as i would have thought that a recall, on safety grounds, should be a recall...

If it was a safety recall then VOSA would contact you.

I think you'll find it's actually a service campaign in which case they will rectify next time the car is in the dealer network.

Sadly, even the dealers use the wrong terminology

thanks for that.. and it makes sense in view of how it happened and what was said. however, to me cars cutting out whilst driving at speed constitute a safety risk...although I guess there is a lot that can go wrong with a car whilst driving at speed as I still remember having a blowout in the outside lane of the M3 many years ago.. I will be happy to get these injectors replaced and be a bit more relaxed about driving the car.

cheers

Hi just rung up JT600 in Hull, they have confirmed that there is a recall against my car, a Passat 2.0 tdi 57 reg. If you have a car that you think might be in the recall just ring up your local dealer thay will check your chassis number. The check is free and if required they will change injectors & wiring. Looks like they are waiting for people to ring!

I did just this a couple of weeks ago and my 57 reg Passat was one of the cars covered by the recall. I picked it up from the shop yesterday and there is a very noticeable improvement in how it drives; low down pick up is much improved and there is a greater urgency to the power delivery. I also managed to get a personal best MPG figure on the way home, and again on the way to work this morning so a double win smile
