Audi A6 - Window wiper position.
Discussion
Hello PH, having a bit of bother with my window wipers.
Noticed today my window wiper sitting up more than usual, washed the windows to see if it would reset itself. And it does, sometimes, the window wipers have slowed down quite a bit too.
When I got home I thought I would try setting the wipers to the service position 'on', they did this OK, but when switched back to 'off' they didn't budge. They stayed in the 'on' position, the MMI reads 'off' for 5 seconds before changing back to 'on' so the MMI must know where is the blades are. The only way I can move the blades is to press the window wiper arm down, but this does not fully reset the blades. Had a quick google and it didn't turn up with much.
Anyone heard of this before? Possibly Tame Tech?
I'm hoping this is as easy as some sort of VAGCOM reset, and not something as bad as a new window wiper motor.
Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!

Morning Update...
Driving to work this morning and the window wipers were moving normally, although they did not return fully to the bottom of the window.
Travelling at 70mph on the outside lane on the duel carriageway overtaking slower traffic in the rain my window wipers stopped dead at the bottom position, frantically switching the window wiper stalk did nothing.
About 10-15 seconds later they started working again.
Same amount of time later they stopped again, this time about 75% full sweep. This lasted about 20 seconds before they started working again.
Took my car to 2 different Audi Dealers who couldn't book my car in to next week, so I didn't bother.
On the way back to work, they have started to work perfectly. Seating in the fully down position and sweeping fully.
No problems since.
What the hell is going on!

Update: Been diagnosed as seized wiper linkage.
Replacement is £178 with a new piece of trim costing £17 which stops the problem coming back. 2 hours labour.
Booked in for next friday.
If it needs a new piece of trim, then Audi have obviously identified this as a fault. Try asking them to contribute, especially if you have full service history and car is only just out of warrantyReplacement is £178 with a new piece of trim costing £17 which stops the problem coming back. 2 hours labour.

Just a quick reply to an old topic just in case anyone is looking for the same answer as I was.
My wipers did exactly the same, they started to park slightly higher than normal and then became erratic eventually stopping completely in a downpour.
As a quick fix I sprayed deblock oil http://www.innotecworld.com/products/greases-lubri... on the wiper mechanism without stripping anything down and its worked a treat.
I'm guessing its not a long term fix but its lasted a few months and only takes moments to do.
PS I got the spray from eBay as the manufacturers only sell to the trade.
Worked great for me thought it was worth spreading the news.
