Hi All,

Does anyone have an Octavia GreenLine II? There's a chance I could get one from work and I'm wondering how slow it will be compared to a 2.0 TDi 140?

I currently have a Mondeo 2.0 TDCi 140 and it has a decent turn of speed which I don't want to loose and the Octavia is around 200kg's lighter so I'm just wondering what it will be like on the road.

Thanks, Max

I have the Superb Greenline 2. Its not super quick but its relaxing to drive. Your Mondeo will be faster but the Octavia is almost cheaper than walking to run. Get the Superb if you can though.

Hi mate (I bought some M5 trim from you a while back)

I'd love a Superb, but the Octy is sat at work after someone left on Friday. I guess ill just take it for a spin and go from there. Will check the spec sheet online later too - see what its got.

Cheers, Max

Not a bad car really, one thing of note is the hatch back doesn't have a rear wiper. The gear ratio's are quite long, think along the lines of 5th is good enough to hit 227MPH is a highly tuned Octavia VRS.

Had quite a few people recently ching up from 2.0TDIs from all makes Ford, Toyota etc to GreenLine II's also had a chap who changed from a Passat 170 Est to a Superb GreenLine II hatch and isn't disappointed with the performance all he said to me was when he's towing his caravan he has to drop it down a gear lower than his Passat would have been in on the hills.

I personly think the 2.0TDI 140 is probably all the car one needs especially in Elegance trim, goes well good spec. Obviously by that I mean a car to just be a car!

I'm not arsed about a rear wiper! My E39 doesn't have one and I only use the Mondeo one occasionally before setting off because its there,

Fair enough, I only mention it as a few years ago I had the rear wiper removed off my MK2 Golf when I had it resprayed and moddified and it bugged the hell out of me.

That reminds me of some VW products of the 80's.

5th gear was so long, that if you were doing anything less that 60 mph and changed to 5th, the car would practically bog down!

Even the road tests of the time found that top speed could only be achieved in 4th.

Well I collected the car today, bye bye '57 98k Mondeo and hello '61 10k Octy!

I took it for a drive at lunch, seems a bit sluggish but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Hoping I don't miss the steering controls, climate and armrest too much!

I think that may ruin the point of the car, but it could do with it!

Just stumbled on my own thread two years later after looking for remap comments!

I still have the car and it will be replaced in Feb with another Octavia or Leon ST (need to decided, but probably the latter as it's more unique and..)

I'm tempted to buy the Greenline for the OH to replace her 170bhp 2001 A3 but she isn't keen!
