MMI artist artwork display and video playback

Hi all,

This may be relevant to some of you. I found out recently that the cable fitted to my MMI that goes into the iPhone, did not allow for the artist artwork to be shown on the screen. Also I could not play back movies from my iPhone onto the screen.

I have subsequently found out that the correct cable - part number 4F0051510R allows for the artist artwork and replays videos from the iPhone. Most dealers do not seem to supply this cable on new cars.

The cover art display stuff only works on the new MMI 3G+ -i.e. the newest A6/7/8 and refreshed A4/5 I think. And only if you have the latest firmware.

The video playback might work on the older 3G stuff but I'm not sure.

Resurrecting an old thread. Just wondering if anyone knows... I have a 2011 A8 - love it to bits. My friends A8 is 2012 and has a much nicer mmi with nicer looking 3d maps and so on. Can I sensibly upgrade mine? Thanks peeps.
