If some idiot ( ) were to come along and remap their leased 2010 A8 4.2 TDI, could any and all evidence of remapping be completely removed prior to a visit to the Audi service department?

I think the Blueefin can be changed back to standard. Wouldn't want the hassle from the Leasing company if they found out though!

I chose the bluefin because you were able to add/remove at free will.
Don't think a REVO map is a DIY ???

I think it depends on the model and engine, although there are some benefits and downsides to each option in general.
I have had two cars mapped with my Bluefin unit (2.0T quattro A3 and S3). For me, the benefits are the ease of using the handheld unit and the opportunity to take the map off as and when required. Superchips maps are generally considered to be quite conservative; on the A3 2.0T / Golf GTI this is true (240bhp -v- 250+ for others), but less so on the S3 where it's competitive with Revo and the like (310bhp). You'd usually pay £4-500 for a Bluefin unit and map. I paid Superchips £167 to have my Bluefin unit updated with a new map when I changed cars, which was the deciding factor for me staying with Bluefin on my S3.
Revo are generally thought to be more aggressive maps giving generally stronger peak BHP / torque figures, but will come without a handheld unit as standard (the SPS handheld unit is extra and enables you to switch between maps, but not take it off). Usually, the map and unit would cost around £6-700.

Cheers Basil- I have a late 2005 3.0TDI A8 sport, and am interested in improving response (and economy if possible). The car is well out of warranty so I dont think I will have a need to put it back to standard. At the moment, the revo offering drops it to around £400. Regards

I'm considering the bluefin superchip map aswell on the TTS. I haven't read many reviews on superchip so far....
Anyone else want to share their experience?
I read that the bluefin superchip map is quite "tame". But I'm very keen on it because of the ease to remove and reinstall.

I'm no expert, just an owner with a Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro. I wanted to have my car remapped for a more progressive power curve & less lag from the pedal to the wheel. As I mentioned in the other thread, I did alot of reading but at the end of the day I wanted the ability to go back to std. if needed without visiting the re-mappers every time. The Bluefin unit is simple as A-B-C & the tech support over the phone to a newbie like me were excellent. The map for my car that they supplied over the air (style)was way better than what I had. Now I have the bluefin in the house & can goto std. any time I need too. I would like to use a specialist Remapper & rolling road but I just don't have the money to keep paying for repeat visits, tests. I know they can remap to the optimum for my preferences & car setup but sometimes the flexibility of having the ability to decide in your own home is a deciding factor. The Bluefin system wrote the new map to the ECU via OBD in around 10 mins & I went out for a test, the new map was excellent. Superchips do say & did say to me that if I was not happy, I had the option to write back the std map onto the ECU & return the unit (in a new condition)within 7 days to the supplier for a full refund. I don't find there remap too aggressive or understated, it's powerful & responsive on my car. The only criteria you need to meet besides your car being in the list of available remaps is that you have an internet connection & a PC (with USB connectivity) to install the software for downloading/ uploading to them & the unit. Overall the Bluefin is not cheap (you can get personal remaps cheaper) but is did give me what I wanted. I suppose you have to deicide what you want & how you want to deal with removing the remap if you need too. I know if I broke down the recovery company would be bringing the car to my home & I would be writing back the STD map 10mins later

I used Viezu, which I believe used to be ChippedUK.
I got a V switch, which is the same technology as the bluefin unit.
Very happy with the results. Slightly up in power and torque than bluefin, although that is a very good product as well.

Have you looked at Shark Performance? Pretty well respected over at Briskoda for remaps on various Skoda. Possibly worth an enquiry.

Wife's S3 has 317bhp at 6500rpm and 340lbs torque at 3800 rpm - dynoed on 4wd Rolling Road
Done by Revo - very good - just make sure you run on 98!

I have a bluefin on my 2.0T TT. Although it may not be as aggressive as a custom map it certainly was not money wasted!
I patiently waited for a 'new' one to come up on eBay. Some people but but never use. I picked mine up for £270 and everything was all still wrapped and never used.

I have a Bluefin device and Superchips remap on the S3. It makes for a very fast car. One of the key advantages with the Bluefin is, as has been said already, the ability to take the remap on and off at will.
Interesting to see one of the posters paid £160 or so to move the Superchips map over to a new car..............if you change your car within 12 months of purchasing your Bluefin, and your new car has the same basic engine, you can move your map from original car to your new one free of charge. So I originally had the Bluefin map on my old A3 2.0T Quattro....and then when I changed that for my S3, because only 11 months had passed (there is a 12 month warranty), I was able to take the map off the A3 when I sold it, upload the stock S3 map to Superchips server and be sent a new remap for my S3 free of charge....bargain! I guess the same stands true if it was a 2.0T, or a 1.8T or 2.0TDi in Golf, A3, Octavia, Leon, A4 etc..
Superchips use a less outrageous state of tune as well, which maybe boring but gives a bit more assurance. There are certainly cheaper and more powerful remaps available, but without the necessary “pedigree”. It’s a balance of risk.
One word of advice, when I originally loaded the map on A3 2.0TQ I blew the diverter valve almost immediately and had to have it changed for a later version with a more durable diaphragm. I did this a precaution on the s3 as well, before I loaded the map on. Not sure if the same hold true for TDis....

I had the Revo done on My A8 and Im very impressed. Response is Better and Economy has improved by about 7%. Work was carried out by an ex Audi Master technician at Autotechnica in Hull and I can't praise them highly enough.

I have Revo too, which is great. Mine also came with a little switch to swop between settings - one of which is back to standard. Naturally though, I've never used the switch!
