I need five doors, mate, so I could be persuaded to part with mine.
Soovy, You don't accept PH emails... I do, can you drop me a mail? Cheers.

I have today come across this same issue.

I think I have decided on the Ed 30. I'm going to look at one on Saturday, red, 5 door, manual. Is there anything other than the obvious I should look out for?

P.s. sorry about the thread hijac

I've owned an original R32 and two Audi S3. I prefer the noise of the V6. However everything else is superior on the 4 pot turbo - speed, steering turn in, less weight etc. As soon as you think about the easy tuning options for the turbo cars, the V6 would be left even further behind. If you love the V6 sound you sacrifice almost everythng else to get it.

Throttle response is better on the V6 especially from a standstill imo.

Agreed - to an extent. From a stop on the turbo cars you need to give them a touch more throttle before lifting up on the clutch to get away. On the V6 you can just nail it from rest with no advanced planning. But, if you get it just right on the turbo cars (not hard) they leave the V6 behind easily, even in standard form. The turbo cars easily have the edge in the mid range too. This is from experience in owning both and having a play the other week with a V6 on a very long driveway wink At the higher end of the speed spectrum there is nothing much in it.

Well in the end I didn't get either- I bought a nice black S3! It's just had its 145point check and I'm hoping to collect it tomorrow or Wednesday!

I can't believe they can get so much power out of such a little engine- I honestly can't remember when I last had such a small engine- it does fly though! I'm sure once I've spent a bit of time with it I will realise just how competent a little car it is :0)

Well the S3 didn't end up on my drive as I couldn't sit in the passenger seat with my daughters baby seat behind me. I tried 5 door R32 with bucket seats today and all I can say its it was 'ok'. The steering was horrible and felt very very light with no feedback. The bucket seats did not work for me- not supportive or hugging - would definitely have been better if the bolsters/sides were in leather and the seat/back panels were in alcantara or suede. Disappointing drive.

I had a Mk 5 R32. Nice car. Great seats. Good noise. Too heavy. Too slow.

Good all rounder though. Worth a punt.

Cloth is quite rare in the Mk5 R32, and if they were the optional cloth Recaros, rocking horse poo is easier to find.

Mine's cloth (but only because it's the lowest spec I've ever seen...not one goodie on it!)
