With £25k to spend I'd be going for a new Scirocco GT 170 with DSG box - I was in the same situation as yourself and was looking at the TT but just ordered a brand new Rocco with Xenons, Leather, Nav, Reverse Sensors,Cruise, folding mirrors and 3 years servicing for just under £25k (if you include the £1k VW Finance contribution which I will be paying it off as soon as I get the car)

4 proper seats and all that for the same money :-)

As an owner of a Scirocco and I would say stick with the TT. In my experience the Portugese can't build a car as good as the Germans :-)

Also the cabin of the TT is a nicer place to be.

I intend to drive the lot, I'll have a go at a sirocco as well this week. Just wanted to see if there were any glaring issues with the range.

Because you spelt Scirocco wrong in your post, as many people seem to do :-)

Ha! no worries, that was supposed to be a thumbs up emoticion but i got that wrong as well frown

I drove the TT today.

It was loaded to the hilt with extras looked lovely and fast, got in the cabin and it felt nice, started it up and went frown My first diesel so the brain was expecting a nicer sound.

Issues for me first off was the clutch was so light compared to my car that i was all over the place for the first 2 minutes. Once I got over that it had little or no pull away grunt but a nice torque through the gears. I drove it for 20 mins on some country roads and noticed that the ride was quite firm, firmer than I expected but not uncomfortable.

I just need to stop thinking of it as a sports car as it's clearly not with that engine. Other than that I was happy with it. Scirocco tomorrow.

Yeah the clutch can catch you out, I'm still getting used to the A1s. Be interested to hear how you think it compares to the Scirocco, minus the Quattro they are effectively same engine/ same platform.

I pulled away from the lights and stalled it, proper school boy error :|

I'm not sure i like the looks of the Scirocco if I'm honest but it's just there as a daily driver so it's the comfortability / practicality in truth that should rule the decision. For instance - The back seats in the TT are small, ok for kids for sure but i forgot about the leg-room? I'm only 5' 7'' and there wouldn't be any legroom (or headroom) for an adult in there..

Yeah the back seats in the TT are effectively not usable, you need to treat it as a 2-seater! Its certainly not a practical car. The Scirocco is a bit better for space in the back but the roofline limits headroom slightly. You'd need to look at the A5 if you want a VW Group Coupe with properly usable rear seats IMO, but its a fair bit more expensive.

I had a 2.0 tfsi TT, it averaged about 35 mpg, it was a great car though and I was sad to see it go!.

I've now got an A5, much better than the TT, why don't you have a look at one of those, £25k will get you a good one, less than a year old?
