Preferably in blue. Estate. Only one on the whole of Autotrader and it's a little leggy.

Cheers.

You just missed mine...sold end feb with 37k and one of highest specc'd out there. Guy who bought it was chuffed....and I miss it..he'll of a car for a family estate....theyre like rocking horse sh#t. In total only 164 sold in uk, of which there are less than 70 estates. You are going to have to be patient.

I had it up for £13995 58plate 37k biscay blue sat nav/dynaudio system/sunroof/leather/alcantara/spinning dial trim/ voice act Bluetooth.
I was offered 12k cash at local dealer. It booked at 12800 trade in(glass guide) retail would have been 14-14.5k. I sold for 13100 private, this factored in it only had a months tax to run and the DSG/haldex service was coming up at 40k. Also not being a trade sale, warranty was just about to expire. Auto protect do one though all in for 255 if vehicle has less than 60k mileage.
If you need any info on these just ask.
Bear in mind though a ful service history does not factor in a DSG oil change or haldex service which is done every 40k. Cost is about £280 for both. Needs to have been done. You will be amazed that people don't do this.
Common problems are handbrake sensor, known to affect all passats, replacement sensor will resolve issue. Electric folding mirrors can sometimes stick...check them
As for prices it's tough one. So few out there most guide prices are way out, a certain ..we buy xxxcar.com quoted 7249!!!!!!!! But a low miler 09 with the sat nav/dynaudio system will likely be about 14-15k dealer.

That's fantastic. Thank you so much. Just the kind of stuff I need. Shame there's so few as I just want to get on now and buy one. But our current Subaru Outback been no trouble, no need to get shot in a hurry. Thanks again. If any more questions spring to mind, I'll definitely be in touch. Cheers.

I was on the press launch of the R36, Scirroco & Passat CC.

Passat was a wafty barge, Scirroco too like a golf, yet the R36 was fantastic.

The press cars were all estates and the car really work in this guise. Fabulously comfy and the DSG box worked really well with the engine.

Whatever you find, I'm sure it'll make you very happy!!

I asked a VW dealer near me what availability was like - he basically said he hadn't even seen one since the last pre-registered car they'd had land on them from VW head office went out the door nearly new! Never sold one properly used.

I really crave one of these, or at the very least a go in one to get it out of my head......

They are a rare beast... I would never have sold mine, if it had not been for my crazy dream(see previous posts) it is a great all rounder, so many comments and people asking about it. It truly is a rare car, understated and so capable without being stupidly expensive. It's no rs4 and doesn't pretend to be. It's somewhere around the s4 area, but rare and unusual, different which wins every time. I can honestly see me returning to buy one in a few years again. But not until I get that ferrari in my garage......days counting .

Christ, that's some up front cost! Unless they were written off anyway.....

Thinking about it, of those the mk2 golf's engine came from a Audi Q7 so perhaps others may have to.

Either way your point regarding high up front cost of either buying a whole donor or even the engine still stands.

I know one of the early Mk4 conversions was done with a whole donor and took months just to get the CANBUS system talking to the mk4. Trying to get DBW, a multitude of ECU senders, speedo senders, diagnostics was the major battle, fitting the engine into the bay is the easy bit.

Cheers for that. Though probably holding out for something with a few less miles as will probably keep the car a while.
