Anyone driven Passat CC
Discussion
I have a 2009 2.0tdi 170 GT DSG, mouthful isn't it! I came from an M6 cabrio and wanted something cheaper to run day to day. It's certainly been that whilst stil being comfortable, not too slow and still fairly svelte. I've had it just over a year and no problems whatsoever. I'd recommend one to anyone. My wife has the 140tdi in her car and that's a nice engine as well. How many miles a year will your friend be doing?
Wow I can advise the tame technician !
Passat CC used to have as a pool car for work.
Motorway cruiser, extremely quiet, drove the 170 tdi version - didn't hang about for a big lump, massive boot, lots of leg room.
Great sound system, parking sensors as standard to my knowledge, stupid electronic handbrake if I remember right (like my 08 a4)good road holding.
They should of called it something different though than a passat as it's far better looking than that.

I have a 2013 CC GT so probably not as able to comment as some. Mine is also a DSG.
Personally, I think the front of the old model looks better than mine.
Did the older ones come very highly spec'd? i.e sat nav, heated leather, BT, front and rear sensors, auto lights/wipers etc.
Seats are nice, its a pleasant place to be and it eats up the miles with ease.
Manual gearbox will stop you having the issues ive had with my DSG box though with not even 5k miles on the clock!

Just brought mine home from its 50k service. I've owned from new in March '10, a 170 TD with DSG. It developed a creaking noise that was fixed under warranty, other than that its been faultless.
It's cost about £750 in servicing over the 50k miles, is easy on its tyres and has averaged about 50mpg according to the trip computer. For me the electronic handbrake, parking system and DSG are fine. So easy to drive, just fire up put in gear and steer and brake. (I do have a 911 if I want to be involved).
The comfort setting suits me most if the time though the sport setting does improve cornering but this isn't a sports car, it's a mile eating cruiser and very good at it.
I bought it just before I moved out into the country and wondered how it would be in the snow but with winter tyres it has coped very easily.
So, for me, a very capable everyday barge that looks good and does everything I could ask of it.

With DSG, Nav and a splashing of leather its a mighty fine car and secretly better than a lot of premium models.
... make that heated leather, xenons, DAB etc...It's not actually real leather though...
It also has the rear blind, which I did use once in 2011...........
Sometimes less is more but it's still a good all rounder.

Mate is looking at getting one, I'm going with to give it a look over. 2009 2.0tdi (CR)140 MANUAL
Think its like a streched A3 to me just wondered what the PH's have to say about them, good or bad.
Many thanks TT
I had exactly the same model as a company car for over a year (140bhp manual Tdi, 2009) and it was brilliant. Mine had front and rear parking sensors which I'm not sure are standard spec, 6 CD in-dash stereo, and really cool 'cornering' headlights. It handled superbly but the only possible downside is only 4 seats - the rear has a centre console instead of a mid seat. I quite liked this for its 'unusual' factor and many people didn't believe me until I showed them!! Roofline is about 2 inches lower than standard Passat so you'll bang your head a few times . It also had admiring comments everywhere I took it.Think its like a streched A3 to me just wondered what the PH's have to say about them, good or bad.
Many thanks TT

I bought mine (2011 2.0 GT 170bhp manual) about a year ago. It's been a good mile-muncher and has managed just under 50mpg overall average. I find the comfort suspension too soft and the sports setting too hard so I leave it in the standard. Loads of standard kit and a real looker compared to the standard Passat.

None of it is real leather is it?
That's not to say that the seats aren't pleasant.
It's a great all round car. I went for it because I got the handy extras without having to pay a fortune in CC tax for the equivalent 320d... which I would have done at a similar price level.
VW sell it as Nappa which is real, though as with many other brands side panels and other bits are artificial. That's not to say that the seats aren't pleasant.

The seat body, armrest and steering wheel will be / are real leather everything else is faux. Basically the surfaces you touch or sit on every time are real, surfaces you don't touch regularly such as the seat backs, sides and door pockets will be faux. That's not to say that the seats aren't pleasant.

Didn't see this thread and posted in GG, anyway I'm deciding between the tdi 140 or tsi 210ps. Tsi would be nice but worried about fuel (had mid 20's from auto petrol) but worried 140 tdi might be underpowered. Private new purchase so not worried about company car tax
Go and drive the 140, weirdly it's really not. Certainly not lower down.If anything it seems more sprightly than the 170 around town.
