Well after several months of looking and hanging on for a good nearly new one I finally collected an A6 Avant TFSI today.
Will keep you posted on how it fares.
So far, loving it; the supercharged engine is just great.

Good choice smile Mine is Daytona, looks great in the sun when clean and doesn't show the dirt too much

Out of interest, since my experience was that finding a 3L TFSI S line was a difficult hunt, I had a look at the DVLA figures (howmanyleft.co.uk) to see how many are registered as at the end of 2013 Q3 (Q4 figures not yet available).

So for:
Audi 3L C7 TFSI s line petrol there are 66
For the Diesel 1668

Just out of interest I also looked at:
Audi RS6 C7 = 97
Audi R8 V10 convertible = 270
Aston Martin DB5 = 277

No, not the black edition; it's a fully loaded S line

Nice A6 quite envious - however for balancing purposes - although I am personally adverse to diesels (see earlier post to the OP) I ended up myself with a TDi V6 mainly because there were no petrols available. Admittedly i went for the Allroad flavour mainly for quattro & adjustable suspension to balance out the over firm suspension on all my Audis past & present.

The diesel, however, has been a revalation and much better than my expectations ie lots of very useable torque (450nm) & power on tap esp for such a heavy car in Allroad guise. Fuel is acceptable for size & weight where i suspect petrol will suffer most but its still not as frugal as i'd hoped. Engine is suprisingly charismatic with nice V6 growl on full chat & refined woith no hint of derv esque chatter inside or out when warm.

In summary i can begin to see the point of the derv option although when i go for a blast if not in the TVR I go in the A4 manual petrol which is also better on fuel!

Nice car, well done finding one and you made the right choice in my view. I've got a 2012 3.0TDI (admittedly the lower power one due to CC tax rules) and whilst I used to do high miles, I now don't and wish I had a petrol. It's not a bad engine but on my short cold runs, 24pmg is normal and I've been down to 17mpg. My V8 S4 does that and I know what I'd rather drive! Admittedly I pay no mind whatsoever to economy :-)

Enjoy!

If you want something different, go for the 3.0TFSI. If you can find one that is. Audi had a whole stock of these cars in that unusual blue colour (forget the name)doing great deals, which I purchased. I suspect that quite a few of them will be coming up to 3/4 years old on the used market.
I've been searching for a replacement for my much-missed A6 4.2 V8.

I can find four of these blue 3.0TFSI A6 Avant on an 09 plate for sale. They are all a bit of a drive from me and I have been holding out for one with better toys but I can't wait much longer.

So tell me. Just how "unusual" is the blue?

Colour is always a very personal thing, however the blue is very close to Mugello blue that they did on the RS6. I think someone posted a picture very recently of it on here. Quite a dark and very distinctive colour. What sort of money do they go for now?

Recent research reveals

09 plate 62,000 miles dealer £14,995
09 plate 38,800 miles dealer £16,990
09 plate 37,464 miles dealer £17,850
60 plate 26,000 miles private £18,495
59 plate 63,957 miles dealer £17,975

Does anyone else think that last dealer might be a bit optimistic? Or maybe he's using it as his daily and isn't in a hurry to sell.

Your car looks like mine! Only mine is a biturbo deisel . Great car, no matter what version of V6 motor. I know people say they are a bit inert, but as an all round family / dog/ tow car etc it is all you could possibly want.

Remembered this thread when I saw I trade in at work today

We've had a silver 2009 59 A6 Avant 3.0 TFSi traded in for a Bi-Turbo TDi, it's got around 37k on it and it's fully loaded, inc the BBS alloys

It's not on Approved yet but is at Huddersfield Audi, for anyone that's looking smile

I have taken the plunge and picked up one of these blue 09 plate 3.0 TFSI estates.

After one week of driving the mpg and performance both seem very similar to what I used to get from my A6 4.2 V8 petrol saloon. On the motorway the 3.0 TFSI was perhaps 1 or 2 mpg better. But then again it was on super unleaded. For my daily commute the smaller engine actually seems to drink more petrol. Engine note is still muted but perhaps seems a touch growlier at low revs, where the V8 used to waft silently away from a standstill. Have not yet been brave enough to see if it will sing like the V8 when it gets up nearer the red line.

I own an A6, 2008, 3.0 TDI Quatro. Definitely one of the most reliable cars I've had. Solid as a tank.
