Golf Mk5 ED30 or Mk6 GTi - Impartial advice please
Discussion
I'd avoid Bluefin personally, the only people I know who've had their maps on cars have had issues with them. Could simply be coincidence but enough to put me off. Depending on where you are, I'd go with someone like AmD or Revo, or get a custom map like Badger 5 which uses the Revo map as a baseline but is done specifically for the particular car. They're EA113 only AFAIK though.
If you want off the shelf software for the usual off the shelf hardware REVO and APR offer very good (Tried and tested, GIAC also offer.
R-Tech (Niki Gower) is a master of tuning the 1.8T 20V and 2.0TFSI engines aswell.. he writes every single bit of the software and its to your specific needs for hardware.

It's a shame the ED30 cars don't have the full leather option. I've been looking at Audi S3, VW MK6 GTi & R spec cars and haven't quite put my finger on what I'm seeking. I was orginally looking for a 130i, but age and spec that I'd like, it's just pointless.
Then been considering the practicality aspect and keep leaning towards 5 door, which then starts to push the S3 beyond what I wish to spend, even more so after seeking DSG..
Found a nice R or so I thought and in the text jumbled in the description, CAT D - binned that idea.
RE tuning, whatever VAG I got I suspect it'd go to JKM for Revo and resonated Milltek like my previous Seat Leon Cupra 1.8T did.

Edition 30 are really good news as far as residuals and they are commanding strong values at present.
This is a nice example:

Bargain when you consider this is Golf R oomph for alot less. Nice features and you will always get a good return on resale.
