Echoing above but id reduce the mileage between box services. For peace of mind id do a full box service with filter every second fluids service which I would do at most every 8k.
Plugs, engine oil, gearbox oil, oil fuel box and air filters and brake fluid for a full fluids and filters sweep is 500quid in parts alone from tps with discount
Every 8k miles? That's a little soon isn't it? More trouble than its worth? Minimum recommended I have heard is 20k. Where did you hear this?Plugs, engine oil, gearbox oil, oil fuel box and air filters and brake fluid for a full fluids and filters sweep is 500quid in parts alone from tps with discount

Guess it depends on how long it takes him to do 8k - could be his annual or bi annual milage. But it certainly does no harm to the car and provided you can afford to do so well why not.
Given that Audi say the C5 box is a 'sealed for life' item doing a fluid change every 8k is crazy. Every 20k is way more than adequate seeing as most people see 80k+ with few box issues.
When i had my C5 RS6 i used to do an engine oil change at every half way point between recommended service intervals. In all honesty it probably made no difference, but i felt better knowing it was done. As for the box, even changing the fluid once in the box life is more than Audi recommend. Every 20k is as often as MRC and Unit20 suggest too and they live and breathe RS's.
Every 8k is bonkers and probably will cause more damage to screw threads etc than anything else.

Well I have just made a 400 mile journey home after picking up my second ever C5 RS6. Quite an uneventful trip really, nothing broke, no warning lights came on and the gearbox is still working. In fact the trip was that boring that I got carried away and booked it in for a MRC stage 2 map with catless downpipes and non res Milltek at the end of the month

If you managed 400 miles on one tank you are a saintly driver I've yet to break 335miles (did that last tank and it was on 0miles.... ). Had a lovely commute back today left late clear ish roads oh what fun that's what a car like this is all about the noise the thrust of acceleration the lovely interior and the fact there are so few cars which are quicker what a great car it is.
Only drawback is Fuel consumption and premium fuel. But eyes wide open and knew what it would be before I bought (the noise is worth it alone!)
I'm not sure depends on driving I suppose. The one I've bought only has 45k on the clock and had the discs replaced at 40k. I know a few people have gone here: http://www.123spareparts.co.uk/cgi-bin/atm_shop.pl... for discs and if you use Quidco they do 8% cashback on orders over £125. Someone on RS246 has just fitted some and paid £338 delivered for a pair of vented front discs, not as expensive as people will lead you to believe!!
Is the RS6 a car where as per wheeler dealers if someone had lippy discs but loads of life in then then they would get then skimmed or even on a beast like what we run its still not really worth doing buy some new ones instead or run lippy ones down.
Luckily I've not for either issue but just thinking ahead.
My last car I did what 60k miles in it on new discs and they were fine aparently had a good 35k to go and I drove it hard ( 330d other wise I'd buy a 320d if you get what I mean).

Did you buy K155? Was it as good as it looked...obviously I guess as you bought it...but you know what I mean?! Was definitely the choice of the cars available. Did you get it cheaper than advert?PF

Yeah the car is immaculate, the pictures really didn't do it justice. The leather and alcantara looks barely sat in, in fact I don't think the rear seats have EVER been sat in. I spoke to Martin at Unit 20 before flying up as he had just put a new gear box in it and did a cambelt change only 10 days ago. He said it was one of the nicest he'd seen and couldn't believe the guy was selling only 10 days after paying a 5.5k bill.PF
It has the latest rnsd system with fiscon bluetooth and AMI interface which cost over 1k to install, the seller had also replaced most of the buttons on the dash with new ones as he said the old ones looked a bit tired. Obviously I'm looking at it with rose tinted specs as it's now mine but the interior is like new, I'm afraid to take the kids in it for fear of ruining it!
The exterior is also immaculate with, only one fairly large stone chip on the front bumper, he's given it lots of TLC and obviously plenty of wax as in the rain on the drive down last night the water was just beading off the car and the windscreen. The plus alloys are brand new genuine items and have less than 1k on them and again are immaculate.
I'll put some pics up later today but I'm mega chuffed with it. Oh and I paid just over 13k for it against the 15.5k asking price, including a genuine Vagcom cable

i would love one, but the gearbox issues seriously put me off, that said the manual conversion is out there, that is then a truly great car RS6 6 speed manual…..
If you went manual you may as well spare the money and get a B5 RS4. To me the 6 is more of a long distance monster and the gearbox is part of what makes it effortless.I also imagine the manual gearbox ratios aren't the best for a lower revving V8.
For me the RS6 is a bit of a hidden gem. Still looks modern yet with a subtelety modern RS's are sadly lacking. Also with no SLine lookalikes available at the time time their is no doubt about what it is when you see it.
