I'm not an owner of an RS6, but I do own an A6 3.0l tdi quattro. I was looking to upgrade to an RS6. The local dealer let me have their demo for a full day. I have to admit to be a little underwhelmed. Beyond the loud pedal, it was just like driving my deisel. Which is either a testimont to how good my current car is, (which in my opinion it is) or how average the RS6 is(which it isn't)
What I'm trying to say was there is no way I would give a dealer my car and £55k to have one, or in monthlys to go from £650 a month to £1200. I'll keep my £55k and continue to get my thrills from my caterham, and E30 M3

I've had two drives in the new RS6, one was hardly worth the trouble but the second was a reasonable drive. The engine and transmission are amazing and I was quite smitten until I drove a CLS63, at which point I started to question the cost of the Audi (pretty much £16k dearer on PCP), it may not be as lightening quick in a straight line but there's far more involvement, similar space and the interior is just as lovely. I am going to book a drive in an M5 after xmas, so will make a decision after that, but at the moment I just don't think the extra cost of an RS6 can be justified. Have not had the pleasure of the V10, but if I were you I would look at the CLS shooting brake.
The new one is better than the old one ,the v8 is a far more nimble machine ,but as has been said I have a 3.0tdi allroad and it felt like a very fast version of that,the steering is also one of the worst systems I have encountered .The AMG e class is the best driving luxury saloon /estate imo but the 4wd attraction of the audi is deeply appealing.
I've got the 5.0 C6 RS6. I've only had it a few months but love it. It's a smooth quiet family car when required and quite an animal when you crank all the settings up a notch. It is a bit of a barge round the corners and it doesn't always hide its mass well but when all's said and done I think it's a great all rounder. I just love the straight line speed and grip, oh and get the ceramics which ever one you choose, I've not managed to make them fade at all yet!

I too have been looking at moving from a current A6 BiTurbo to the RS6, but can't really get my head around paying such a premium over the existing car for some more straight line performance and whilst there are a few around for sale with Audi, they don't seem interested in offering any discount, which is odd given what Mercedes and BMW offer on AMG CLS/E63 and M5 - the question is how long will they sit with cards unsold before starting to negotiate?

I'm sure that RS6 will move at some point, but as many have commented, Audi discounting policy seems to be more rigid than other marques. There seems to be some movement with brokers, but I guess there are associated risks when dealing through an intermediary. Agree entirely, when you see the likes of Chris Harris comparing the CLS63 shooting brake favourably in most areas to the RS6 and Mercedes/BMW are offering much better deals, it's hard to see how Audi can sell the RS6 at their stated RRP - I don't mind them not offering discounts but then the RRP looks wrong against the competition.
I have had a brief test drive and really cannot see a significant difference between the BiTurbo and the RS6, other than straight line acceleration and the RS looks, which doesn't add up to double the price in my view!

I agree with your comments, and after driving the RS6, then a biturbo ( my current car is single turbo 245hp) I've ordered a biturbo. I haven't driven a C7 RS6 and only my C6 RS6 but I have driven a mates bi-turbo and he's driven my RS6. Despite the specs on paper I think we both agreed the RS6 was a good deal quicker in the real world, much more than 1% I'd say. His bi-turbo isn't airsprung and he said his car has a good deal more body roll than the RS6 too and felt less planted.
The bi-turbo is a great car and I was very tempted to get one as a company car instead of buying the C6 RS6 myself but in the end the heart won over the head and I bought the RS6 and haven't looked back. If you even consider factoring MPG into the deal then the RS6 looks a lot less tempting but 560+ bhp plays 313bhp(approx stats from memory) is a big difference and I'm sure the torque advocates will pipe up but round a track or down a flowing A or B road the RS6 would leave a bi-turbo for dust (IMHO).

many thanks for all the feedback I am not a great fan of the merc, but the CLS63 is a nice car
I have the BMW M5 estate as I said, but also have a TVR Sagaris for my grin experiences
I drove the RS6 today the car is virtually brand new, the cost is high and will see how much I get off the price to see if I go ahead, it was a good drive, short and sweet but good, car as responsive and easy to manoeuvre - lots of gadgets on the car - as long as it has a big boot, can go then I am hooked, the 4wd makes the car better than the M5 in that respect
Its just the price is at the moment is only thing holding me back, though I can afford to just do it, sometimes I need to just think about stuff first

The old V10 Rs6 is a good car, no doubt. The biturbo I drove and have ordered has air suspension. You are right, the Rs6 is a LOT quicker than the biturbo, my 1% was the fact that that in my opinion that was ALL the RS6 has over a biturbo. As for round at track IMO , not worth worrying about, they'll both be rubbish.
I think I've concluded that the BiTurbo is fine for now (especially given Audi dealers current steadfast attitude towards discounts on the RS6 and the pretty low trade in for my 18 month old loaded Biturbo - it just doesn't make sense)I'll wait until mid 2014 and review the matter again. Agree with the comments on tracking either RS6 or Biturbo, not only do I think they'd be rubbish, I'd don't think brakes or tyres would last very long on either.
