I'll call Phil tomorrow then. Not heard back from Lease Plan. Probably missed the boat, but I have plenty of time to decide. I'm also eyeing up the Cooper deal that G2L are offering. Purely a weekend car is needed. No commuting, no family, but no space for anything special as no drive/garage.
Let us know how you get on with Phil. I've emailed for a quote a while back, but maybe phoning is better. But I don't want to bother the poor guy if he's swamped.Cheers.

3 days into having this car and it can only describe it as awesome. Eco is a nicely tuned down version making it easy to drive through towns and stable commute (even averaged 38mpg).
Now i've only done 250miles so far and so have kept the revs under 5k rpm, and no full throttle - and not even touched race mode.
As soon as i hit 600 miles (1000km) i will start to use Race mode, and then increase revs and throttle.
But in Normal mode, this is very responsive and an absolute joy to drive. I will keep feeding back updates with actual mpg, and what Race mode is like when i get to it.
All i can say is that all those people with them on order will NOT be disappointed, its just the waiting which is a ball ache!!

Yes, please keep us updated, that mpg is extremely encouraging, especially has it hasn't loosened up yet (usually get 2-5mpg more once settled?)Now i've only done 250miles so far and so have kept the revs under 5k rpm, and no full throttle - and not even touched race mode.

What does your commute comprise of?

Since if have it im avg 25mpg, but sinse i last filled up im at avg 38 which has involved:What does your commute comprise of?
from cold
2mile straight run to end of my lane (warm up),
3 mile winding A road into nearest town,
2 miles through town,
17 miles winding through villages to Lincoln where i work.
On top of that there has been a "lunch time blitz" with mates from work each day - which gets abt 18mpg.
I've heard that a proper running in would help mpg in later use, and i've also heard it gets better once loosened up - not sure how long that take either.
But im happy to see that in ECO on a commute i can achieve late 30's mpg - so it is only going to get better

Its quiet on here tonight!
Have a whole batch been delivered today and you lot are all burning rubber??
Mine has now been stuck at "Build in progress" for 3 weeks - time to call the dealer me thinks!

I'd assumed, wrongly it would appear, that given the same dealer and BW, yours had made it over on the same ship as mine?Have a whole batch been delivered today and you lot are all burning rubber??

Over 207 since new in ours averaged 19.7 mpg about 150 caining (me) and 57 miles wife (steady). For a 5 door hatch they are bordering on epic, love ours. The kids especially, our 6 year old sits in front and to him touching race and and him telling me to floor it is like the turbo boost in sonic racing.

Could the people that have the cars ordered / delivered please list:
How many stages and what happens at each
How long in your case you were waiting in each stage
--- just want an idea of how long is reasonable before i start getting agitated
I don't think it can be accurate for each person seems to have different. For example, my car has been sat in Stratford for over 2 weeks because it came a month early and the paper work was behind. From what I remember it stays on stage 3 for several weeks, I think mine was 13 weeks turn around if that helps? How many stages and what happens at each

Oh mate, it is just fantastic, iv tried race mode tonight, still below 5k revs, but it stiffens everything up, seems slower lower down, but much faster at higher revs. Cant wait till I get above 600miles then I can proper test itbonty said:

Glad you're enjoying it mate! I wouldn't hammer it until you get to 1000ish miles mind you. You'll get much better returns economy wise etc if you're good to it running it in! rhysmoreton said:

I used to think this but in my experience this is the complete opposite. Years ago ran in 2 identical company cars with a mate, mine was broken in gently, his was properly thrashed from the word go.After 5,000 miles we did a little experiment. My mates was quicker to 60, smoked less and at 70 mph on the same motorway stretch with cruise on over 5 miles he returned 1.2 mpg more than me!
Changed my run in style from that point on!
My opinion is that as its a 2 year hire I want max performance for the most time - 1k run in would take me a couple of months so that's a no no! I have always been told that hammering it from new will give the best performance with a small long-term risk of the seals leaking a little oil in a few years time - it won't be mine then!
The fact economy may be worse by 1-2 mpg is hardly a massive cost over the 2 years - it works out just over 1 tank extra to pay for over the term!

I've always run engines in with a mix of steady and hard driving and I've never had problems. The fact economy may be worse by 1-2 mpg is hardly a massive cost over the 2 years - it works out just over 1 tank extra to pay for over the term!
