I'd stay well away from 95 mate! it's specified to run on 98, I know it's 15p a litre, but that's only 6/7 quid on a tank, worth it.
That's fair point mate, never really thort abt it like that.

I have had mine for about 4 weeks now, and 1100 miles in it is just fantastic. It has easily as much punch up to the ton as the RS6 I used to have but has been returning 32 mpg on average across the entire time, with peaks of 39 on mway cruise and 19 or so on a thrash. 3 door, DSG and heated seats being the only options I ticked and I got it through Freedom Contracts, who I have used many times and am very happy with. I may not have the best deal but I am happy with it at 6 & 23, 10k miles and £262 ex VAT PM non maint. I also decided to wrap the bonnet myself as I thought stone chip protection would be good, and it might look good. No complaints so far..

One concurs!!

My other half got hers a week ago and I've just taken it down my favourite B road, which I know so well from my Evo days.

I can tell you that the Golf R is a sensational point-to point car, with superb grip, traction, handling and, most impressively, near perfect damping....I love it!!

I can't think of many cars that would keep up with it down such a road, certainly not my M5....too big for that scenario.

If you're still waiting, then you've got a great car to look forward to.

Stunning chaps!

I can't understand why you did it.
What is it supposed to look like?

Because it looks like:
1. a minicab- I believe in some cities they have to have a different colour bonnet.
2. you had a bump and just bought the first bonnet you could find from Ebay.
3. you are an ex-teacher and miss the sight of a blackboard every day.

A bit harsh!

I don't personally like it but each to their own.

It's his car mate. You're entitled to an opinion, but there's no need to slate it. If he's happy that's all that matters.

Glad you're enjoying it!

Truth be told i liked the brushed titanium as an alternative to every badly fitted poor carbon fibre look wrap i have seen and it really accentuates the creases on the bonnet, adding a sort of enginerred from solid look to some of the details. Hopefully this explanation will satisfy my learned friend.

I'd assumed, wrongly it would appear, that given the same dealer and BW, yours had made it over on the same ship as mine?
So what's the news on yours?

David
Got a voice mail from dealer on Friday to say car was ready and to call to organise delivery. Gave them a call back to say it was "ready" but they were yet to tax it.

So arranged a showroom handover for this Friday at 9am. Be interested to see if it's a full handover or just a "here's the keys".

Mine will have been 15wks from order to collection, although nearly 3 weeks of that the car will have been at the dealer.

Well mine is going to be 19 weeks against your 12 - go figure!

I am thinking about collecting so will be interested to hear whether the handover is decent, and whether they give you any extra fuel over the 1/4 tank prescribed.

At least I have a 64 plate to look forward to!

Without wanting to rub it in, I ordered on the 2nd of June and it was on a boat this weekend to the UK..... I guess it's luck of the draw with dealer allocation.

Well, I had to get rid of the garage queen Porsche and decided I needed a proper daily driver.

EVO don't usually review VW hatches as good as Renaultsport , so to see the review of the R come out so good I just had to go for it.

Night Blue
DSG

£1650 deposit
£306 a month for 2 years (VW dealer)

And yep, agree with the 98 fuel. Says minimum grade so that's what its getting :-)

Is this the best place for R type chat or is there another forum people are using?

Cheers, Matt
