Phil was extremely busy when he was there, if he didn't reply he probably forgot due to the amount of R's he was trying to sort out.

I'm surprised the initiative was not taken and an email was sent back to him to remind him/ask if he had got what he needed yet.

Either way, he was extremely helpful for me, and now he has gone (I rang Inchcape this morning as I dont know when my first payment is due), there will be other people to deal with.

Spreading FUD like "did he give us all the same order number", or "he has our bank details and has now left" are just silly and uncalled for. He WAS a salesman that's left, that doesn't make him a fraud or a criminal for leaving.

On a lighter note, reading the replies was pretty funny this morning xD

Anyone else new here , stop the gossip and panicking. It is all un-necessary and turning this thread into another lease gate
I wouldn't say it was unecessary - the original issue was, literally, a scandal, and there were quite a few on here who were very keen for reasons unknown to try sweep it under the carpet.

Now, strangely, lots of people were directed to deal with one person whgo apparantly, and for a reason I cannot fathom, was the only one able to do the best deals on an R - he had no known track record and no magic wand, and yet to him they flocked. Fair enough, nothing wrong with that.

The guy has disappeared - I worked in a dealers for a while and I can tell you - you don't just get rid of your top guy without very good reason. I can tell you that for a fact.
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss any issues here - something, yet again, stinks with this whole thing.

Speaking to VW CS Arval are the name on the order form (which I guess makes sense) and CS have no info as to who the intended agreement holder is.

I personally chased Phil for weeks to get the actual paperwork but was always batted off with how busy he was and it would be in the post soon (like the proverbial cheque). Needless to say it's still not arrived, who ever takes over this is gonna be busy!

Spoke to Inchcape this morning and a few things to clear up.

Phil was told to leave the company (although when I called through, the operator told me he was on holiday).

Sales staff are currently trying to organise Phil's files and get in touch with customers to ensure everything's okay.

One strange thing I was told is that although I was told by Phil a provisional build week 39, it was in fact originally 46!! and just recently put down to 43. That was rather annoying as I was under the impression my order had been delayed rather than put forward.

So in some respect, people are right that someone else will pick up the order and handle things until completion. However, there is also a slight cause for concern as the lady I spoke to did say that a lot of things are currently still being worked through, files are still being organised etc. Furthermore, from the impression she gave, it did seem as if customers were misled and not told exactly what was going on.

Worth the phone call, the lady I spoke to was extremely helpful. Then again, I thought the same of Phil when dealing with him.

Provisional build orders do change, until theyre confirmed you won't know what actual build week you are getting. They've been changing a lot the past few days as I think the factory are stepping up a gear sorting it all out smile.

I have just spoke to Inchcape.

Had good chat with bloke called David Middleton who is going to dealing with all the orders as well as his team of 4 in the department.

Phil has left the business, number of reasons but in short he took on too much as is gone.

All orders are absolutely fine, they have got spreadsheet of all orders- about 50. They are going to be ringing everyone today or monday to confirm what you have ordered and give you your current build week.

Has asked me to let everyone know and if you want to ring him you can do.

His direct number is 01242 223113.

Is it just me or is it pure coincidence that the people on here telling that everything is just fine and how the dealer has it all in hand, providing names and phone numbers have only been on Pistonheads for 2 months or less and have only every contributed to the Golf R lease thread...of course it is... wink

What's your point? I personally am just trying to help people by contributing to the thread to help people in the same position as myself.

No-one is trying to cover anything up? Maybe I need to start taking tablets because a good while back I had people telling me that I was wrong pinning the blame on VWFS and the dealers, that it was all the brokers fault.

That, as I found out, was untrue. So forgive me for my cynicism when I hear all the 'don't blame the dealers, it's all okay' chat!

Once bitten twice, shy and all that smile

Was he really that good to deal with? How often did he ring/email you? Did he actually give you any proof that the order number he had given you was actually yours? All I got was a print screen with nothing actually saying 'this order belongs to you'! Has anyone actually taken delivery of a 'Phil' offer? Although he was good on the phone I think he was quite clever to never give too much information over emails, therefore it could come down to 'his word versus yours', as you don't have the email correspondence.

I agree that he seemed a nice guy whenever I spoke to him but in my opinion he got greedy, bit off more than he can chew and now he has ultimately paid for it. This just now means that all of the people that ordered through him have to deal with someone else! Hassle free leasing I was told!
Think its unfair to talk about someone on here when they cant defend themselves....

How many people on here have ordered lease cars before? I have many times and your actual finance/rental papers are drawn up just before delivery so technically no one at Stage 2 has a car yet otherwise...e.g you can walk away any time as I did with a GTD last year as they took soooo long to deliver them.

Everyone was falling over themselves to deal with Phil a few months back and now cause he has left VW (which could be for a number of reasons)were all worried he was some sort of scammer? What does he have that any other finance broker doesn't?

If we could have all gotten the deals at £207 inc VAT as a personal hire via the sole trader route we would all have done it and nothing else would have been said unfortunately it wasn't to be.

If I get my car great if not...ill get another car I wont loose sleep over it,

I personally think the real root of the problem was the foolish individuals who were going into dealers and test driving the cars then bragging about how cheap they can get them via a fleet dealer which in turn caused the dealers to act....just my tupence...

let's leave leasegate buried. You have VW tracker number call VW CS or Inchcape and that's it. Nothing more. Nothing is hidden your price is clear and If your complaining about lease time's than look for another car. This thread is getting bogged down with negativity....
