Just an update,

Just had a call from Inchcape VW about my order. Phil has 'Left' so I guess they sacked him for whatever reason and that he kept most of the information to himself. they confirmed my order and car I ordered with a build week of wk39. They want me to send over all correspondence from Phil as they do not have many details, they are going to contact Arval (sp) to confirm the details on their end. As far as VW are concerned the car has been ordered. Just waiting on an update.

Just had an identical call, they need copies of the proofs but confirmed the car, specification and build dates which all match what i've been given

let's leave leasegate buried. You have VW tracker number call VW CS or Inchcape and that's it. Nothing more. Nothing is hidden your price is clear and If your complaining about lease time's than look for another car. This thread is getting bogged down with negativity....
Spoken like a true...hmmm...

Good idea, best let sleeping dogs lie...have their belly tickled, head patted and told 'Good Dog, good dog, don't worry that you're being robbed by over £2500...good dog'.

Tell me - why are people like you so against fellow Pistonheaders getting a good deal and holding companies who have treated customers unfairly to account? Why do you have such an issue on that?

It's not negativity, its about ensuring fellow car buffs get a good deal. I didn't realise that 'leasegate' had been closed by you? Come on mate, you can't just shut down conversation because you don't like it. There are still lots of people getting totally mucked around by the sounds of it. People who have handed over personal details to someone who never centrally recorded them by the sounds of it?

I'll say it again but something isn't right here.

Calm down Dear smile Its only a VW smile You will give yourself a coronary with all your stress and paranoia smile We all were involved in the original fiasco and understand that the leasegate process may have been going behind the scenes for years. Most of us have moved on with the revised deals which are still good or gone on to lease another car. We just don't need negative comments on here it brings down the mood and Mod's will have to lock down this thread.

We are here to help each other not create negativity and fear which most of your post's contain. Why not post something positive smile it is friday after all smile

I spoke to him, and only got passive stuff nothing concrete. Then an email with a tracking number.

I've had a call from Katy at Inchape Cheltenham, requesting all correspondence I've had with Phil. She has ad used that the "2 weeks either side of September" lead time was lies, I'm looking at delivery in late November. Ah well.

Okay, since you asked smile. It's a good one.

We're getting our Golf R next week. The one we ordered in June. And we're getting it for ....£232 per month.

Now, isn't that positive?! smile

If you can wait, then it will be worth it as many have said already, your not the only one with the delays at present which remember can go down too, VW CS will probably have the most up to date information and can advise you on this if you have further concerns..

That's a good rate. Is that inc VAT too? I assume a bundle as a downpayment and bog standard spec?

Congratulations mate. You did especially well if that was through an order which was the odd business/sole trader one!

I'm sure you feel incredibly chuffed! Will it put you off ordering VW again? I suspect a few on here will either go about it differently when their deal is due to end and avoid VW altogether?

Just watched Chris Harris' review of the R vs M235i. Won't spoil it, but the Golf does well in Chris' eyes, even against a BM with thousands of pounds worth of performance mods.

It's through Select Vehicles mate.

Chris the guy I've been talking to assures me he won't be beaten on price as he gets very good discount?
Sorry to be a pain mate, but any chance of a URL, as a Google for Select Vehicles comes up with a few variants...?

Cheers.

Yup, inc VAT, totally standard in red, manual. Think it's £1400 down with 7.2p excess.

What makes you say the BMW had loads of performance mods? Looked fairly standard factory issue to me and didn't hear him listing parts off.

Both great cars, I'd have changed my M135i for an M235i if I could but they carry a premium price whilst being the new wunderkinder

It took a lot of work to get it, far more work than anyone should have to do. I'm happy for now, but as said, in two years, I'll be reluctant to pay over the odds for a lease knowing that business sole traders get it much cheaper despite no difference in circumstances.

I'll not go back into it, but I would say that no matter what went wrong/who was to blame, the way it was handled was very poor. If you think about it it went something like "Hi dear Customer, we've decided that we want you to pay more for your car - please give us an extra £2500. You're not getting anything extra, but as you'll agree, the more money you give us, the more we make! We wouldn't get away with this on our fleet deals but we know you'll all stump up. Thanks for keeping us in business!"

Spectacular - my hat's off to you sir.

I can think of plenty of boggo family hatches (Citroen DS3 I'm looking at you) that are advertised around the £200 a month mark but with much higher deposits.

Well done!

As I said, can only applaud you in your effort and persistence. Unfortunately, the reason I didn't pursue anything was partially laziness, coupled with the fact that I didn't quite know where to turn to/didn't have enough knowledge to challenge the "you can either take the more expensive quote, or cancel the order" options given to me.

Congratulations again, now enjoy the car when it arrives and make sure to take pictures!

Snap. Seems Phil has been offed for telling porkie pies. Car confirmed for a further six weeks past where Phil reckoned it would be.
