Be prepared to pay more than that at the end of the lease. Fair wear and tear on a 15k mile car is a lot less than that on a 60k mile car.
By the rules i mean the BVRLA standards.....

Why do we have end-of-lease charges?
All leasing companies in membership are obliged under the BVRLA Code of Conduct to trade fairly and responsibly in all dealings with their customers. End- of-lease charges reflect the loss of value in the vehicle to the leasing company when it is returned in a poorer condition than originally contracted....

The last line is open to all kinds of interpretation!!!

Have you read the conditions and allowances for the vehicle? If you stick within that there are no extra charges, so if someone does 100k miles and they dont damage the car it makes no difference. The car is under warranty for the period so there will be no extra charges. I'm, not sure why you think there would be?

And when I was patronised by one of their "Director of Sales" this was part of VWFS's condescending argument that Lease deals are not for us mere mortals - the additional end of lease charges - apparently we are all too stupid to take this into consideration - even though I pointed out I had considered it.

Has anyone taken delivery on an 'arval' car yet? Spoke to the dealer today, as my car is showing stage 7 of 7 and she mentioned a 14 day cooling off period. I haven't even signed the final agreement yet!Does this mean that i will have to wait 14 days after i have signed the paperwork?
Due to take delivery on Tuesday. I had a similar conversation regarding the 14 days but I had my paperwork countersigned by Arval and sent back to me. The guys down at the dealership were really good in talking to Arval and getting it sorted for me.

Re excess mileage. I have taken a 5k per annum lease with a view to doing 20k per year. I have factored the excess at 7ppm into the cost calc. Only an extra £74 a month for the extra 15k miles per annum.

This isn't my first go at leasing using this approach to excess mileage.

Just ordered a 5dr DSG for the wife! I cant think of a better 'family' car! Delivery is for December.
That's good, I ordered at the beginning of July and was told initially delivery due September, it then got pushed back two months to the end of November. So I cancelled.

Those of you who have got one on order, you are in for a treat. I am still on my first tank full of fuel so it's early days. However, the car is an absolute hoot to drive. I have got poverty spec with manual gearbox and metallic paint. I maybe should have shelled out for satnav but the car is well equipped otherwise.

I had forgotten just how quickly you can cover ground in a hot hatch. I have used it for my short work commute, the school run and a motorway run. It's been a blast each time. It's not just the novelty effect. I have had many new vehicles in the past. I have also worked in the car industry for many years and am usually quite blasé about the latest vehicles.

The only down side I can see at the moment is having to hand it back at the end of two years.

Anyone received any paperwork form VWFS at all? I ordered back in June and all seems to be fine, order number and what not, but had anything else at all. Just seeing if this is the norm..

Mine arrived today. Seems like a long time from ordering back in April!

It is a nice bit of kit - wish I went for the better upgraded sat nav option though, as the screen seems pretty small compared to my old Audi and Porsche...

Looking forward to some fun in it!

Ordered in july - was told recently by Mr Middleton that paperwork only gets drawn up once the car has a VIN number allocated.

Question to all those that have ordered and had delivery from Inchcape - did you get a choice of number plates?

I thought that when mine first arrived... you soon get used to the basic nav though, and the system has pretty good functionality.

Anyone know can I arrange for my private plate which is on retention currently to be put on the golf for delivery (lease from vwfs)? Or is it better getting it done after delivery.

I was told by mr Middleton paperwork is 10 days prior to delivery. I did ask if all my docs I sent was ok for Vwfs business and was told they wouldn't know until the paperwork is sent off at the 10 days point.

Thanks - bit of a shame you don't get the album artwork coming through on it - when connecting iPhone.. I suspect you do on the upgraded version?

Personally I've done 3700 miles since December in my current car. Do I need a brand new car, nope not at all, do I want a brand new R, hell yes.

I do suspect a large percentage of those with a 5k limit will exceed it. Many of the deals had an excess pence per mile cost so cheap the maths didn't work out to take a higher mileage deal. Obviously you do have to put the money away each month or prepare yourself for a big lump at the end.

There was mention a few pages back of the lease company checking the mileage mid term (probably when serviced) and then adjusting the monthly cost accordingly, will this happen in reality - who knows??
I've done 2000 miles since I got my new car 8 weeks ago. The 5000 mile limit is unrealistic for the majority of people surely - it's less than 100 miles a week. I have a 125 mile a week commute but add in some weekend driving, visit friends and family and it soon gets into 5 digits a year.

I guess 5k is fine if you can afford this as a weekend only car.
